Ian
Over in the CPA thread, he got 3.7" in an hour and a half, diminishing yes, but some of the bands are randomly reintensifying again, plus growth/ratios up there are impressive. some of that must be local orographic effects.. that band is not really moving much lately. i think there are some peaks in there aligned more or less that direction? Ian
LWX radar shows intensification of light echos backbuilding into N. Central Maryland. that area then trailing back into PA is still going to try to drop in it's just not that impressive. there could very well be some snow showers or even a sustained area of very light snow as it passes. just not sure what exactly it will be able to do in this airmass and with all the wind if it's not moderate. basically style flakes? Ian
I'll take it. A very wintry week all in all, if you put things in perspective... im pretty much in a frame of mind where anything less than 2-4" is a total waste of time. kinda starting to root on futility so we can at least have a reason to hate this winter forever in dc. Ian
DC is not a place and this is not a winter that holds up well against expectations...I can enjoy these little events because my expectations are so low...otherwise they blow...though the squall was cool...almost no other winter am I staying up til 5:30 watching rain change to non-accumulating -SN it's a pretty solid air mass at least if you like that sort of thing. dews down to 9 at DCA/IAD now. wind chills low teens. aldie 22
I have no expectations other than seeing a few flurries fly...if we get a dusting of -SN...cool....if not...fine I'm with you...I stayed up till 2:15am for just under an inch...even though I had to get up at 5:30....anyhow...I love all snow and today.....it has snowed

I'm sort of like you. I don't really dig the puny snow events. If it's a real 1-3 inch threat with a real chance of getting 3 inches, then i get marginally interested. Day's like today, not so much though knowing a few people had thunder with the line was pretty cool. I don't see tonight's activity as being very exciting. If it covers the ground enough to whiten it, great but I won't stay up past 11 to see it.

I enjoy watching it fall, but I don't invest much energy into tracking, etc. However, that being said, the surprise events when you're not expecting anything are quite nice, too. The thunder snow and rates, even though they were for a short period, were quite fun today.
WinterWxLuvr
It won't do any good for snow to fall here overnight. It would never land. Boy is it cold. Barely above 20 at 20.2 and the wind is ripping. Took the dog out for a whiz and thought I was going to die right there. I know we aren't supposed to banter in here, but at this point, this thread is about done. So, this event really makes me realize that I'm ready for this to end. Had it not snowed another flake today, I would have been happy to have just kept what we had this morning. It was absolutely beautiful here. Dense fog, 1.5 inches of snow on literally everything, even some on the roads. This time of year stinks. It's still winter enough for snow, but the sun has just become too much of an enemy by now. It takes a really special event at this point to reap the full benefits of winter weather.
Stormpc
nice lwx flipped to clear air, weenie time. Back to non-weenie mode finally. Very loud outside, like a sustained tropical system. Feels brutal in the yard with the dogs. A few flurries is all I ask for.

Obviously, I'm the same or I wouldn't post here but when winter winds down, my intrerest wains unless something big is going to happen...a hurricane, major flooding rainstorm or severe outbreak but mostly only in mby.
