i think the hrrr etc are more gung ho than the nam? wrong not necessarily right word maybe-- more like not completely right. either way... here's to the hrrr.

Rotton way to compare, but the NAM has about 20dbz echoes over DC proper for 3 time periods. The HRRR does also, but also has 25 dbz echos closeby which the NAM doesn't have. zwyts is right that the latest RUC is pretty lame though. Totally going weenie here though.

Band pretty wide heading into Baltimore and looks to be two rounds that span 30ish minutes. The RR and HRRR look nice for tonight, I think some places could get some accumulation.

The orientation of that band could be very good for me here. Have had light to at times moderate snow, but still waiting on the heavy stuff.

here's a long loop from state college. i wish they'd switch out of weenie mode. it may be dropping more south than se in parts (the heavier echoes) but there is a se componant. plus i expect it to degrade but if it doesn't i guess the "snowier" idea could be right.

I have to say, watching that whole squall line thing go through on this board reminded me of doing a wave at a soccer stadium... you see it coming, coming, coming, then you jump up in the air, yell "whoah!" then it's over, and you watch it go away from you...

we had some awesome rounds of thunder and lightning here and everything turned white. temps dropped 10 degrees skunk denied here :snowman:

It looked the best in Fredericksburg and south. Wakefield radar is down so I couldn't really see it too well. Looks like you beat us. DC had 50 minutes of snow, and nothing but grass to show for it.

Even the "snowier" idea is probably about 3/4". So, there's not going to much difference in how it looks outside either way, whether we get a dusting or a bit more. It's just nice that we have a chance for all surfaces to be covered tonight...

Fozz, I dont know about you... but looking at radar it looks as if the band is moving southish from PA, could mean we are under good returns for a bit

It looks like your side of 83 seems to be getting better returns than mine right now, but yeah I do see a band coming from Carroll county headed towards me.

.......and it's getting a little heavier now.
