WVclimo
Thanks for the pics, Wxtrix. For a few minutes it was the lowest visibility here since 2/10/10. The horses in the yard across the street were out when it hit. They were frolicking in it, raring back and kicking at the snow.

chris87
yeah i saw that. i know not all of them pick up in cloud lightning. does it you know? the LMA will pick up both intra-cloud and cloud-to-ground strikes (NLDN is only cloud-to-ground)...it's pretty nice to have one over the region, only a few in the country. Deck Pic
The evening event is pretty well modeled at this point. Snow starts around 8-9 pm in farther northern locales an rotates through DC metro over the next couple hours. Not sure about rates. But at least it will be snow and if will be cold and windy
Ian
There ya go Ian! im covering cwg social media so like multiple reports.. t-snow is sometimes overreported imo, power of suggestion. i bet if i tweet it that many more will start reporting it. TUweathermanDD
The evening event is pretty well modeled at this point. Snow starts around 8-9 pm in farther northern locales an rotates through DC metro over the next couple hours. Not sure about rates. But at least it will be snow and if will be cold and windy As this band does east that will be pulled down later tonight, rates could exceed a quarter of an inch and hour it looks like, with some places getting an inch. Inverted troughs are hard to get rates and qpf as well as their slow movement correct, so we could see a little entertainment in DC/Baltimore later tonight, not to mention it will be cold with maybe some good snow growth and certainly some dendrites rather than conglomerates.
