CranberryWX
it's supposed to pick up east of the mtns.. tho the hrrr is pretty crappy for all the attention it gets Yeah...It's time for me to start tracking the upslope snow streamers... Might get an inch from that considering it's during the daytime.
winterymix
9z HRRR for the convective squall this afternoon, should be fun, not sure how many are aware but DC has a lightning mapping array, which will be interesting to watch to see if we do get any lightning with the squall passage, Chris87: Thanky for your contributions; nothing better than a meterologist/snow weenie blend. MN Transplant
0.2" with an overnight low of 33.3. Grass is partially coated, with nothing under trees.
chris87
Chris87: Thanky for your contributions; nothing better than a meterologist/snow weenie blend. I need something to beat my trace from last night/this morning. I grew up in lake effect country so squalls and I go way back! Here's a nice image from Jan 26 of last year from the DC LMA (Note: these are not strikes but sources, which are then reconstructed to into a 3-d representation of each lightning strike):
WinterWxLuvr
1.5 inches measured here. Very pretty. This one started as snow, never did rain, stuck almost immediately. Here's the old faithful 2x4 measuring pic.

Fozz
Nice picture man. No grass visible? I think it was you who said all you wanted was an event where you can't see the grass afterwards...looks like you got it. I'm home for the weekend -- Hopefully the "squail" doesn't fail. Yup, it's the biggest event of the season here , and certainly more than I expected The snow just stopped recently, but it was pretty light when I woke up. Can't wait till the squail! BlizzardNole
Fozz just keeps his grass golf-course short to make the snow look good... j/k very nice pic!
nw baltimore wx
Maybe 1/2 inch here. It looks like about the same amount as when I went to bed.
Stormpc
Went to bed at 3am with a mix, got up at 7 to nothing, so I didn't really see any true snow. Just wet ground here. 33. The prospects of a squall or 2 are nice, but they are usually scattered so many will get screwed. Thunder and lightning and a flash freeze possibility...finally a winter day around here. Light activity from CHO to Orange seems to be breaking up or weakening.
mattie g
Cartopper here, with a little on the grass. No complaints - my 11:00 soccer game is still on!

Grothar of Herndon
Fozz looks like the winner in for this storm. Nice pictures! 33/30 Ground coverage and slight tree stickage. 0.25" of snow. Best of the last three storms. At least ground is white this morning. Can feel the cold and it feels good. Hoping the squall brings a little more snow. mappy
WOW, nice scene outside, the snow is covering the trees and everything except the roads. Looks like we got at least an inch, but I haven't measured. But it's really picturesque. Better than the last two events IMO Very pretty over here too! Snow already stopped when i woke up (about 30 minutes ago). Was snowing nicely around midnight. Not sure how much I have here. Long Green on the other side of the Reservoir got 1 inch
das
Backyard view in Damascus Much less here in Clarksburg. 0.8". Maybe the squall line this afternoon can fix that. Edited to add: it's snowing again.

It started as snow here and pretty much remained snow the entire time. I think I recall you posted that it was raining for a time in Clarksburg? Ha it sure is! If you look at the radar, the atmosphere is so moist that echoes that barely show, like what's over us now, have snow reaching the ground. Looks like a patch developing in SW Fred Co?
