MDstorm
This storm has already surpassed the previous two storms in Bethesda, sad as that is. Its snowing hard, maybe one mile vis and the deck is white. Later this afternoon should be even better. MDstorm

yoda
Sounds about right. I think it may be earlier for us. Like 2-3pm. But that's a guess. 3 to 4 was mine as 06z NAM sim radar had it over or just east of 95 at 21z
yoda
-sn all night? Radar looks good. It does... wish it would accumulate
Jebman
It does... wish it would accumulate It will - temps are falling slowly but steadily - it is 32.0 now. Steady moderate wet snow continues, radar continues to backbuild - NO eastward progress of the back edge in 2 hours
TUweathermanDD
GFS and I think the others too has -sn suggested until around 11pm....not sure more than flurries, but with gusty NW winds and temps in the 20s could be kind of cool yea true, moderate sn, about 1'' on the grass, hoping it will get the pavement soon. Anyways, more stuff developing on the west side into VA around Warrenton, so you're right could be snow until later this morning.
mitchnick
just woke up and am surprised to see around 3/4" of snow with decent snow falling and back building on radar Matt, looking at this thread, your a trooper! I note as well that Providence and Boston are rain...
ACFD FIREMAN
Still snowing in Fair Oaks Fairfax. Switched over around midnite and the ground is covered nicely now.
mitchnick
composite loop nicely depicts back building my snow lightened and now larger aggregates are falling and it's coming down pretty darn good...harder than any time since I've been awake http://radar.weather...101111&loop=yes
mitchnick
I'm under a heavy thin band because I'm giddy with seemingly mod+ snow right now http://www.marylandwx.com/klwxmetro.php
mitchnick
when you click on "composite" on the top of the radar box, and click on animate, you can see we should have a decent period of snow to come http://www.marylandwx.com/klwxstate.php
Ellinwood
Not bad... Seems like a lot of the people in the coating-inch zone are getting towards the upper end of that.
mitchnick
nice....i got that briefly...notwithstanding this squall, I think you, Phineas etc are possibly in -sn much of the afternoon and evening tomorrow....not just some quick squall....mark this post...in 12-15 hours we will be back here looking at radar absolutely for once this year, the models were a tick too warm with the bl darn shame the Euro really does look like crap
Ellinwood
Not sure if it's a FRESH 2" but it works: Tom Kierein @TomKierein NEW SNOW... now 2" on ground in northern Montgomery County at 5:15am... just took this pic: twitpic.com/8ieaoq
NeedaSnowday
Snowing here in the Lutherville-Timonium area.. grass covered - pavement & road just wet!
mitchnick
we have to enjoy what we get....the die is cast....this is a sh-it winter up there with the classics....01-02, 49-50, 31-32, etc....the idea that we are going to be salvaged by a KU or "good" period or even a nice I-95 SECS is preposterous at this point...It could happen, but the much more likely scenarios are something less than that including a virtual shutout....so lets enjoy tomorrow whatever happens and maybe Tuesday we'll get a small surprise...and then go from there yeah, I accepted that fact the other day and we're at a point where it would have to be a miracle fluke to change it otoh, CFS is now showing at least a weak NINO into October I think that's what we want as a NINO like 09/10 would not be good w/o the blocking that came w/it
mitchnick
Not sure if it's a FRESH 2" but it works: Tom Kierein @TomKierein NEW SNOW... now 2" on ground in northern Montgomery County at 5:15am... just took this pic: twitpic.com/8ieaoq interesting because HGR and Martinsburg have been just cloudy for hours; if the report is accurate, they must be on the western edge of decent qpf this is looking like a weak distant cousin of 3/1/09 in that regard
showmethesnow
Half an inch here with a temp of a touch over 32. Snow has picked up slightly with the backbuilding from what I saw an hour ago when I woke up. Seems that some areas are doing much better to the south unlike the other marginal events we have had this year.
BlizzardNole
Not sure if it's a FRESH 2" but it works: Tom Kierein @TomKierein NEW SNOW... now 2" on ground in northern Montgomery County at 5:15am... just took this pic: twitpic.com/8ieaoq Nice picture! We have a little less than that just NE of Germantown - about an inch. Hoping for some snowshowers later.
Ellinwood
Rain/snow line is doing fairly well... nice for the DC folks, at least (as of 6am): Temps are in red... shows low/mid 30s for most of those in the snow.
aldie 22
Well that wasn't much sleep...on my way to work...looks like about .75 or so give or take...sounds like it kept snowing after I went down at 2am....lovely little event for the Burg....models aren't showing much love for the squall event for us back here...looks to be a 95 east type of deal...hope we get some to go with this nice surprise.
