Geos
Picked up 2.5" with the Arctic front. Roads are a mess, salt isn't working at all now. Down to 15°. Paid a visit to the lakefront about the time the lake effect was onshore. @ IL Beach State Park in Winthrop Harbor.
Trent
Rapid Refresh has drastically cut back on snowfall amounts with this thing, and with the radar returns in Michigan, I'm not too surprised:
Trent
Here's a little fodder to the SE Michigan crew: So if this does come to fruition, I don't want to hear any, "wow, no model showed this" tomorrow morning.
buckeye
http://radar.weather...tlakes_loop.php im really surprised. Usually at nightfall you start to see intensity increase with these type of events. Looking at this loop there's widespread diminishing of returns. Places a couple counties east of us are forecasted to get 3-5".....good luck with that. God I can't wait til spring
dmc76
1.5" total so far. Temps 29 degrees really starting to accumulate. Should end up with around 3 to 3.5"

OHweather
LMAO is that a lake effect snow band coming off Lake St. Clair??? LOL No it looks like the model shows the strongest convergence extending into SEMI on the north side of a developing area of low pressure. Lake St. Clair is probably big enough to add perhaps a tiny bit of moisture but that is not why the model shows .4-.5" of liquid near Detroit. Geos
Yeah.. I think that's the front approaching... Yep! That is the front. Earlier today the front was defined by a thin band of intense snow here. The cold will really rush in after that passes.

hm8
ATM im in Oakland TWP. NE Oakland CTY. Nice, didn't know that area had broken the 1" mark already. Front should be coming through your area shortly. Barely a dusting here so far. Starting to come down harder and sticking to the pavement.

michsnowfreak
Gorgeous outside. I totally smell overperformer here. We are already at an inch and the front is still over an hour away, some models suggest it will snow til 7am tomorrow. Measured 0.9" so far thru 745pm. We had 0.1" earlier that melted before accumulating re-commenced, with 0.8" new, big dendrites accumulating fast, and looks to be great ratios despite the temps of 31F still. LOL if only. Right over the heart of Detroit. If that came to fruition with these ratios, it would be a MINIMUM of 6 inches of snow, probably much more. Do I expect it to happen? Absolutely not. But I think the NWS forecast of 1-3" is totally overperforming, why even have the "1"-" in there when most everyone already has an inch or more and the snow is nowhere NEAR done. dmc76
Cannot believe theres no WWA. Its a true winter storm right now. Winds really picking up. Blowing snow along with moderate snow. I always tend to believe if they do issue a warning whatever, underachiever is likely to happen. If they do not issue anything, a overachiever is likely lol..now I'm really not sure how much more snow we are going to get after the front passes... While the snowfall rate will certainly decrease post-frontal, it appears snow may continue falling for 10 more hours yet here on the east side!!! Thats why Im REALLY expecting a nice blanket of snow to welcome the weekend.
