N. OF PIKE
nam did better over sw conn better than euro that's not really a big deal is it.
Brian5671
lol, just another failure, enjoy the flurries this weekend, brown ground, and bitter cold temps, some grass sledding perhaps? Pathetic I have seen more snow than you since Jan 1:( Dont forget the 45-50 torch Tomorrow and Fri and then back to the torch Tue-Wed of next week.... CoastalWx
had 0.05 it failed. gfs failed. rgem failed. nam nailed it. Dude if a model has 0.05"..that means many areas may not see anything. That's how it works. Models don't have enough resolution to pin point areas that will receive 0.08" and 0.01". Globals models like the euro will broad brush areas with very lightn QPF. If you are pegged to see 0.05", you should not be excited at all.
Clinch Leatherwood
Next....band will setup somewhere between ackwaves and Phil (probably way towards ACKwaves)...everyone else gets the hose probably. We'll see how it sets up in a few hours.
Tropopause_Fold
Has the potential to be a keyboard smasher out by Phil.....could be a pretty awesome gradient depending on what side of it you're on. i think a dusting will do it sometime after midnight...that's about all. there's virtually no + temp advection (in fact negative on some progs) just some weak pva. all the lift is being focused well south
mahk_webstah
NAM absolutely nailed this event here, radar completely dried up as energy is being transfered to the coastal, spot on, euro out to lunch, not a flake here despite calling for a half inch of snow. EPIC FAIL
N. OF PIKE
i heard a met say that if 5 globals paint .05-.10 for an event and the NAM doesn't have squat for the areas....then that's a HUge red flag and ....globals wil probably be too moist
Mr Torchey
Gut wrenching winter, looks like some sort of deform band?? developing to my west, sick to my stomach about the lack of winter...........I really hope somebody gets clocked later, what a beautiful area of precip over the ocean

Clinch Leatherwood
Nice returns moving NE from BID area....that's the stuff to follow tonight It's going to be so damned close one way or the other. Gut wrenching is right, way closer for you than me.
Clinch Leatherwood
A minor whoops on the 3h 0z NAM vs the 9h 18z or 12z NAM off NJ at 5h. As a result Phil is as close as you can get to getting a decent event tonight.....let's hope the NAM is still playing a bit of late catchup. Clinch Leatherwood
Looks to me like the NW edge of the more serious stuff that is now well south of the OKX radar position will translate up thru Vineyard Sound and maybe over Phil's noggin later. I'm left in this flake fest of flurries...but it's all good.

Clinch Leatherwood
There's a flake here and there floating down by the light here now. This would be the 5th or 6th biggest event as soon as one hits the ground.

Clinch Leatherwood
Maybe ACK gets an inch? That would be noteworthy this winter. Looks like the storm just ended for me. Flurried for a few minutes. Not a trace. Pretty nasty band forming but south and east of ACK, may be a moisture robber to the NW, we'll see. RIcoastalWX
http://www.tmc.dot.ri.gov/CamCenter/camCenterMapView.aspx# (link to RI traffic cams - on the RI map - click on the SW corner - then the Westerly traffic cam - this is the corner of Rte.1 and Rte. 78) Light snow falling here in Westerly with a decent coating on the ground already. Main roads are just wet but side roads are becoming snow covered.

Clinch Leatherwood
Sounds like mostly "fail" to me. The weekend oughtta produce nicely for the SE peeps, though. Not really, this pretty much wildly exceeded my expectations. I just couldn't stay up, fighting off ebola or something here. About .3 to .4" here, .3" is the safe play. Looks nice, sadly again for this year one of our bigger events. Snow in the trees, snow on the ground, terrific.
