blizzardlover
This winter, we're getting excited about 1-3" potential. 2 years ago, places were on point to get 30-50" in under a week......
NaoPos
I Could have sworn I was so caught up on the 1st storm, that the 2nd didn't even catch my eye till the snow ended on the 1st storm... Talk about weenie alert! No one at work believed me either when I said another major storm was coming. Which storm gave Philly 27"? 2nd largest snowfall behind 96. jwilson
This has to be my favorite week of winter ever, although '96 is still my favorite storm. 12.5" from the first storm. 23" from the second (although that was basically divided into two parts). It's a shame these scenarios don't happen more often. Getting smoked by one storm while looking at the models come together on another stemwinder only days later was very exciting. February 5-6, 2010 gave Philly 28.5''. Especially crazy considering NYC only got a trace.

blizzardlover
The dog, who was 28" tall, was most displeased about his bathroom routine being severely disrupted. This was mid-storm #2. The yardstick was from the first storm only.
Chris L
blizzardlover, how much did you get from storm 2? I see 26" from Feb 5-6.
blizzardlover
blizzardlover, how much did you get from storm 2? I see 26" from Feb 5-6. If I recall correctly, it was around 20" more, maybe a shade under.
Voyager
The 9-10 system was the only one that gave us a good thumping that winter. We were on the cut-off for all the others.

RowanBrandon
Ugh. This just makes me even more depressed. 2'+ for the first storm and 1'+ for the second, all in the span of 5 days. Don't think I'll see that again.
Lady Di
We actually removed the snow from the deck for fear of collaspe before the 2nd storm came.
Chris L
I was in awe, living in North Jersey, that PHL could have matched the January 1996 blizzard's total of 30.7"... I thought they were gonna do it... I saw PHL had 26.7", then it was increasing to 28.5", then I thought "wow, they are two inches away from JAN 1996, can they hit 31?" But IMO, I always will believe this, JAN 1996 dumped 3 feet in Philly.
pazzo83
so much snow... so awesome... I remember walking along the Schuylkill in CC and the snow was higher than all the benches along the walkway after the second storm. Penn actually cancelled classes. chubbs
Once in a lifetime in this area. - 41.5". Deepest snow I've ever seen outside of a ski resort.
LVblizzard
8" from the first storm, 16" from the second one. That would be impressive if areas farther south hadn't eclipsed double their average snowfall in just 5 days.
greg ralls
Had 24" at my old apartment in King of Prussia from the first snowstorm, and then 18" from the 2nd. Hopefully, I'll get to experience something like this again at my new house in Collegeville, but I realize it's quite unlikely anytime soon. cast4
41" total between the two in Chesterbrook. It was awesome.Too bad it will most likely never happen again.
soadforecaster
i got 28" from the first storm and 20" from the second, a total of 48" i remeber when the second storm was finishing up the snow was waist deep, it was amazing
Ralph Wiggum
What snow? ~46" in central Delco from both
dryslotted
Some incredible memories, for sure. 43.5" on the ground here the morning after round 2. I thought I'd never see 33" on the ground again after '96, so who knows if it ever happens again (def not this year). This shot doesn't illustrate the depth, just the beauty and awesomeness of such an incredibly snowy period... (during round 2)
ChescoWx
Quite the month....with 5 Ft 3" (62.8") of snow falling here in NW Chesco here is how it went 2nd/3rd - 3.3" 5th/6th - 18.3" 9th/10th - 26.8" 15th/16th - 1.1" 25th/26th - 13.5" Of course only good for 2nd snowiest month ever in Chester County history behind Feb 1899 with 69.8" - so we should be due for another 5ft of snow in a month sometime around February 2105 - I will only be 142 at that point!! Snowtrain
Live in Swedesboro NJ and I couldn't believe how much snow was on the ground! 27" & 17" from the two storms and I was fortunate enough to witness 3 lighting strikes and thundersnow. Cantore style! Its the most snow I've seen on the ground other than snowboarding trips to Tahoe & Utah.
JCT777
Picked up 34.5" total snow from those two events in 2010 (15.5" on Feb 5/6 and 19" on Feb 9/10). Close to 50" for the month of February. This is one of my favorite threads from 2/10/2010: http://www.easternuswx.com/bb/index.php?/topic/224479-e-panjdene-md-storm-obs-and-discussion-continue-thread/
Chris L
February 10 was quite amazing. It should have been the greatest storm of all time had it bombed quicker and pulled the temps a bit colder. PHL area had 7-8" of snow in 2-4 hours, then some warming and missed banding occured. Upton was forecasting 25-27" up here, but it never occured due to the sfc low and H500 track was a bit SW.
Echo
I had so much fun that winter. I had bought snowshoes and had a great time. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to use them since, because you need at least 6 inches of snow and we've only had one 6 inch storm here since last winter and my employer stayed open and the snow was gone fairly quickly. Eskimo Joe
At 12 PM two years ago today, this is what the radar imagery looked like: That band seemed to pivot exactly over Philadelphia County. Just amazing how much snow fell in the City...Roxborough/Manayunk was shut down for nearly a week because of so much snow & the hills.
