Ian
I think it really helped that it was 24 degrees here overnight. It did spike to 41 before the snow, but with no sun all day, the ground was nicely ready to receive the good rates. rates always win too.. sun is becoming a bit of a factor but not much.. probably more noticeable on the roads than anything. places should get sidewalk accum much quicker with sun setting. Down to 37, so I expect a changeover very shortly, I'll let you know when it does.

chris87
Any guesses on when we see a changeover? sub zero at 950 mb seems to be the magic number today...and the latest RUC analysis has that line just north of DC...so hopefully within the hour we'll see some mix in. WVclimo
I've had visiblity of 0.5 mile at times this afternoon, in snow and fog. The quarter-size flakes are also helping with daytime accumulation in above 32 air..
Deck Pic
rates always win too.. sun is becoming a bit of a factor but not much.. probably more noticeable on the roads than anything. places should get sidewalk accum much quicker with sun setting.
