Anyone who wants a cold rainy summer needs to examine their motives.

I do. It makes for a GREAT Striped bass fishing season, as it keeps the water temperatures low and the fish stay around longer, instead of migrating north for cooler waters.

2009 was a FABULOUS striped bass season.

So please give me a summer just like that.

Thanks.

Go with the flow, this spring and summer will torch

If you went with the flow, then this winter would have been a snowy one, since the last 2 were historic.

The last 2 summers were record breaking ones and the Nina is finally weakening.

Should be close to an average summer. Hopefully, well below average.

I hope we see temps in the 70's and 80's all summer long. I wouldn't mind mid to upper 60's.

Wouldn't we have some more intense ocean storms or nor Easters this year due to warm water?

Who says the waters will be warm as we move forward?

LI sound is 41-45 right now. The ocean is 45-50.

Just because its warmer now, does not mean that it will be in August.

Warm water alone won't cause them, but if the pattern becomes favorable, then yes, storms will have more energy to feedback. Need to keep a close eye on the SSTA pattern in the West Atlantic. If we see those warm anomalies continue through summer, it'll tend to increase temperatures / dew points as well. Warm AMO's are fairly well correlated with warmer summers on the East Coast. Technically the AMO is ever so slightly negative right now, but in the zones closest to us, the water is well above normal.
