For the nth time this winter, I'm back in shorts and a t-shirt today. Sun actually feels warm. I'm surprised this winter isn't going to be the warmest on record, that's how incredible it's been. Just week after week of highs no lower than 45-50F and nighttime lows barely under freezing.

Ray has a thread about this-Central park is currently at #3 warmest of all time--with next week's torch, we could get to #2.

As horrible as this winter has been, there's been winters that have been even worse. In fact there have been stretches of winters where it was horrible. Can you imagine living in the 80s where you were lucky to have anything greater than 6" in a storm? This is nothing.

And surprised that there have been a few winters even warmer than this one. It'll probably stay #3 or lower in Central Park, it's not really going to be torching next week. It'll be above normal (upper 40s and50s) but nothing spectacularly warm.

Yeah. Luckily though, I think we're out of the climatic phase that favors prolonged stretches of horrible winters. Can't really complain - the past 12 years have overall been phenomenal for snowfall. Since 2000, I've only seen 3 below average snowfall winters (01-02, 06-07, 07-08) not including this one. The snow map I draw up for NJ is probably going to be pretty quick this year...

I think a little south version of this storm is a fair comparison. Anyone have the upper air maps?

Totals may be a bit lower than this one though and this storm will definitely be further south by a good 100-125 miles if not more especially with the northern extent with areas further to the southwest will pick up heavier totals.
