euro same general look as the gfs, just less amplified.

I guess its worth watching, still a long way out.

Yea the northern stream and southern stream energy timing is off and they don't come together in time. But still the overall look is not terrible. Take a look at H5 for hr 156, nothing to sneeze at.

yeah, with the event this weekend, there is a trough on the west coast - NOT good for us

atleast with the signal for next week there is postive heights out west, keeps the northern stream involved and helps with the phase of the southern stream vort. Hopefully we get lucky

Even the block is better positioned and the confluence is nice with cold air funneling down. Yea the ridge is imperative, it slows the progressiveness and can help allow something to amplify/phase which can bring the storm north. Like I said before, I am not calling for a storm, just pointing out some stuff that I find interesting and somewhat favorable. Figure if this current pattern garnered so much attention, then next weekend is definitely worth a look. Have time to watch things unfold, would love to see all those signals remain/be real, then we can talk come tuesday. Your point by the way is HUGE, the trough out west is a terrible sign and it forces the weak ridge to roll east collapsing the pattern and shunting everything east. It allows for no amplification or northern stream interaction.

It's a moderate Nina. There's either blocking, upon which we have a shot, or just an absurd confluent pattern with a +NAO, upon which we have no shot, or no block/no confluence, upon which any real storm will cut to the lakes. Just the facts of reality in this pattern. We need a real Greenland/Baffin Bay block before we can really bank on a snow threat. Anything less than that's already an almost guaranteed fail. Winter patterns tend to repeat themselves, without major changes in the overall pattern. That map shows a general repeat of the overall pattern, so it's almost certainly a fail. When it's still showing this 72 hours out maybe, it'll be time to listen.

And yeah, I'm bitter. :(

Funny, the power of a block does wonders, aka 2010-2011 was also a moderate Nina. sigh. :underthewx:

We need El Nino....

There is no doubt that some of the cynicism and bitterness now ingrained in my personality is a direct result of my involvement in this hobby for so many years...there are numerous other factors, however...

The thing is, when a person gets old...experiences the betrayals of friends and relatives...sees their dreams fail to materialize...grows weary from the exhausting task of just trying to get to tommorrow...they begin to realize that the sage N. Jersey philosopher Livia Soprano had it right when she opined...."Life...it's all a big nothing."

I tend to prefer this one, "Life's a b**ch, then you die."

That sucks. I tore my acl in my right knee 5 years ago, and just found out u tore my left acl a few weeks ago. The thought of recovery again makes me nauseous.

good luck choosing a good attitude when under house arrest for 5 years.

just sayin.

Lol...it began in March 2007...so it has been about 59 months...and though ordered by no court, being the sole caregiver to an Alzheimer's patient who cannot be left alone (she is in a Day Program while I go to my job)...seems like house arrest to me.

In all honestly, you'll be rewarded for what you do in life, at least that's what I believe. It may not be immediate, but I do believe people who are jerks eventually get what they deserve and vice versa.

Guest Patrick

Goes to show you never know where someone is coming from or what they do with their life...one less reason to be a faceless internet basher, and one more reason why some of us follow the weather..it provides some relief from otherwise unbearable stress.

Kudos William, for doing a thankless job day in and day out. My family will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Basketball is how I blew out my knees too. I'm starting to think it is evil.
