It's not summer.. There is no need for any big qpf other than snow. We had almost 70 inches of rain last year in CT. Other than some dry brush now..it;s not an issue.

Yeah we do, it means nothing that we got 70" last year. It's all drained off, the ground doesn't have a big storage capacity. You need to go into the Spring with water, or the problem can get big real quick.

If you have a wet Spring, then it's no big deal. But if we have a dry spring, with no melt water, it becomes a big problem.

That part I agree with..but Ginx is saying we need water restrictions and that reservoirs are at halffull capacity . There's plenty of groundwater,..wate table is extremely high.. and all any rains will do now thru March is give us mud. If the trees leaf out early..then that will help the only issue that short term dryness presents which is dry brush

Another early February winner of a day... teens and 20s and sunshine.

Stowe village cam...

Mountain cam...

Yesterday it snowed lightly all day on Mansfield with around 1" of dust at 3,000ft. Here's a photo of how localized the snowfall can be on that mountain. Steady light fluffy dendrites up at 3,000ft+ in the heart of that cloud, snow globe flurries at the base mixed with sunshine (ya know that sparkling dust type snow), and like a mile away the sun is out in full force.

The Mansfield natural snowmaking system...

My town gets our water from wells all ground water, no reservoirs, the town owns it own water system, for the last 3 years come April 30th or so, odd even water restrictions are in effect. So the groundwater you speak of is not as prevelent as one might think.

It's a nice looking WV image. What models are doing, is weakening the lift momentarily as the other low develops. But we'll have to watch radar in PA, because models may be too weak with the nrn edge.

Some good visibility drops in PA over the past couple of hours. Even a couple 1/2sm SN obs.

I don't see how that doesn't at least give a few hours of weenie 1sm-4sm type snow to the southern portions of SNE.

Which is exactly what I posted, brush fires reported we need rain. You respond oh no way we had the wettest year on record then add this crap making up lies about what I said. Scott is spot on, we need precip.
