Gotta find some new hobbies. Sports and weather just aren't cutting it this year. 2004-2005 can not be matched. Once in a lifetime in regards to both sports and weather. Wish I could go back to that year because at the time I didn't realize or appreciate the epicness of it all

Never ever matched.

Hey 2008 got a Celts banner after that SB loss which was worse imo. Maybe we can get a C's or B's this year. Although, C's would be a much tougher accomplishment. The real kicker would be the Rangers beating us..lol.

Eh.....if someone had told you last year that you would see a Cup Final and SB in the same year and win won, you'd take it.

Can't complain about the past 10 years....weatherwise of sports.

very true. we just lived through a golden era (2004-2011) of sports that no city has ever experienced.

still sucks when we crash down to reality.

and yes, great point southcoastMA:

between the feb 2004 superbowl, the red sox coming back from 0-3 to beat the yankees and eventually reverse the curse and some of the most legit rioting i've ever witnessed oct 2004, and the blizzard of jan 2005... we were truly spoiled that year.

I'm not saying we won't have a chance, but the long range sucks. Maybe March has something.

I think it would be cool to have witnessed the best and worst seasons on record for my locale just 16 years apart.

I hope I don't see another flake....should be good until at least March if this next one fails, which it probably will.

Glad I was in Quebec this weekend and able to experience some winter. I think I'll move. :)

The drive up was pretty sad. I left the Pit with 3-4" on the ground. From the point I got on 91, the snowcover was only patchy until about 25 miles south of St. Johnsbury. That was sobering to how bad the winter was. And, a recognition of how fortunate I've been to have had snowcover. Of course, by the time I returned, the snow cover here has taken a real beating.

Alas. Perhaps I'll be burning this weekend.

Welcome to the club.

I think it's just Will and Kev left in the "plenty of chances" group.

I've never been in that category. After interior locales get a couple inches Wed/Wed nite..it looks like winter is done. I said yesterday..if the pattern can;t produce and the storm that was spposed to be this coming weekend misses..I;d rather just move right to summer. We've had spring since October

Thanks goodness for the Giants or this winter would really blow.

Fella... come on, not even a tiny bit of empathy...? Imagine the Giants losing (and with equivalent agonizing storylines behind the Patriots loss)... welcome to the majority of this forum right now.

You should see the arguments on the Patriots thread.

OT but I think what happened was telegraphed. They should have lost to the Ravens (but the Giants were lucky aganist the 49ers). Pats had a cakewalk schedule and were rarely tested. When they were against good playoff teams (Steelers, Giants) they fell. Their only other loss to Buffalo was kind of a fluke. The Giants otoh played Dallas twice, the Jets, GB,SF,NO in the final 8 games. They played GB/SF relatively even, beat the Patriots and Dallas twice. The schedule toughened them up.

The progs look horrendous. We have a month of interviewing scores of candidates for next year's training program......for me this game was a welcomed diversion. Our daughter's bat mitzvah in December and the ongoing poor house makes this winter (snowless to add salt to the wounds) particularly annoying but as mentioned I'm proud of the Giants. The Patriots are an outstanding team and I'm sure they'll go to the drawing board and toughen up their defense in the offseason.

Well said.

This game was a much needed diversion for all of us in the NE forum. It was close, and one side had to lose.

I have lots of respect for the Giants, documented in writing here and elsewhere (you'll remember my posts after the Packers game). They peaked at the right time, and the games against the Packers and Niners proved they are a very well-rounded team with a QB that excels under pressure.

And yes, as I wrote in the Pats forum, writing was on the wall re: their weaknesses. It was a close game and still hurts. To add to the present pain is "Brady is over" and "they can't win post-spygate" arguments that taint years past.

Not really OT --- it's a banter thread, and frankly, what else do we have to look forward to. I had a mini-meltdown last night calling for 5-8" slop the rest of the winter, no futility record, no storm over 5"... despair is left and right today.

I do have, booked, a tornado chase in May. Though if it's in line with 2012 so far, I'll be sitting under a sprawling high pressure in Oklahoma City.

Hope the interviews are relatively painless.

And hey, a bat mitzvah is beautiful thing that puts all of this other nonsense in perspective, congrats.

Thank you. If that Pats had played any other team I'd be rooting for them.

Good luck in the OKC chase! I'm still fantasizing about Valdez next winter.
