That's it in a nutshell. I don't think there is a lick of snow on the ground around BTV and darn little even around YUL.

And I'd love to have PF's snowy scene, but those snow banks are puny for Feb. 4th up there.

Yep, powderfreak (sofar) has had some good winter, but seems very localized in his area, he has really benefited from upslope this winter, outside of that area, there is some snowpack but meager compared to what normals are in the heart of winter. Meanwhile the MA is snowing, just goes to show even in a warm winter like this sometimes its all about luck.

You know I looked out the patio window to the deck yesterday and to my horror.... I saw what appeared to a mosquito staring in at me from outside. Can't say I ever saw one in February before, but looked like it. :axe:

It did get down to 9 this morning so hopefully he met a frozen end....

walked 18 in 2 hrs 15 minutes yesterday. beautiful day, not much wind. played through couple of old timers, otherwise not much traffic.

go pats. Belicheck will rename his boat to "6" rings

This was talked about yesterday in this thread, but this is the localized nature of this winter up this way.

West of the Green Mountain Spine (even the western slope hill towns that usually get some solid upslope events) it has been brutal and they have next to nothing on the ground... like 1-3" of crusty stuff.

This is Nashville, VT (town of West Bolton I think) a historically snowy western slope location and you can still see the lines in the lawn where it was last mowed in the fall. I will say they blow-torch quite easily having nothing stopping air coming up from the Hudson Valley and Champlain Valleys.

Now this is the other side of Mount Mansfield (the eastern side) down here in Morrisville-Stowe area with a solid foot on the gound and the snowpack has been between like 8-13" for a month now.

Its a common misconception that upslope snow is only a western facing slope ordeal, when in reality, its the eastern side (before the downsloping really takes over further downstream) that more regularly benefits. The western side gets the jackpots in the big events but then they get shut-out of others, while the eastern side rarely gets shut out entirely. Its just steady, light snowfall events and then during the torches we hold the cold air while the western side loses it. I've lived on both the east and the west sides of the Spine from Jonesville/Richmond and also in Stowe, and these are the types of winters that really illustrate the differences between the two sides of the mountains that are seperated by only a few miles as the crow flies.

Put in a bid for a house yesterday. Crazy. In west Hartford nice area within walking distance to bars, restaurants, etc.

If things work out I'll need some help buying and siting some WX instruments!!! Lol

Awesome! Congrats and good luck. Is it near that strip of bars and restaurants that we went to after we visted the studio? Looked like a cool area. Sounds like a house party is in order.

Congrat's dude... that's the benefit of having a "real job" that allows you to buy things, lol. Sometimes I think its time to move on from "surviving" as a ski bum but then there are days like today with not a cloud in the sky, perfect snow, and a white-caked mountain overhead... hard life choices.

Either way, I'm stoked for you. You still coming back up in March?

Probably not if the house works out. So something to look forward to if things fall through :snowman:

What a great walk, brillian cobalt blue skies cool temps around 30 and the smell of bbq from wilsons smoker, and wings from Archie Moore's filling the air ahead of the big game.

Giants 31 Pats 28 No win situation for a jets fan.

Awesome... I just bought some wing sauce from Archies to make some wings at home. The best.

Different neighborhood but similar. It's in the more working class area of West Hartford... there are some really expensive parts but I was able to get a lot for my money in the other part of town. Same schools so that's a plus.

Sadly this means moving away from Wiz. lol

I looked at a house in Farmington on the ridge that's at 400' but it was a bit too out there. This is near Hartford and low in elevation so not a great weenie location by any means.

And yeah I'm all for a board g2g at the new place!

Can't wait to go to Ryan's bender after he buys the house.

I have so much wx crap to put in a home office I honestly don't know where I'm going to put it all. I am excited to be able to set up a snow board, rain gauge, and get a nice thermometer to start recording data again. Probably won't go for wind measurements as I'll never be able to site anything that would be remotely accurate.

I forgot there was an Archies in Fairfield. I normally go to the one in New Haven which is amazing. There's a place in Plainville with wings almost as good but it falls short IMO.

Hey congratulations Ryan! I can't wait until I can buy my first house in a few years. If to you need any help moving, I am very strong in back muscles and have much easy time lifting heavy objects. Pick up, put down. Pick up, pump, put down.

But seriously, good luck getting everything to go through!
