Rough down in the SW corner of Virginia... :D

Current conditions at K0VG as of Friday, February 10th, 2012 @ 10:15 PM EST (55 mins ago) Temperature: 176 °F (80 °C) Dew point: 32 °F (0 °C) Relative humidity: 1% Wind: not available Pressure: not available Visibility: 1 statute miles Weather: Light snow Cloud Levels: Overcast at 200 ft.

LOL. Yeah, it's a shame an official reporting station is like that. I have tried and tried to get something done about it but, since it's county owned not alot can be done about it by way of the NWS or even ffa from what I've been told.

The station reports excellent data @ times thus makes it appear to be some form of interference affecting it. The puzzle is, why did it go for a year and a half before having problems? You would think if it was prone to interference it would have shown it then. I would bet there is a connection issue somewhere.

As far as other "official" stations near by, there's K1a6 in Middlesboro, KY. Although, it has probs as well. It reads between 3 and 4 degrees above actual. It was checked out by NWS and proven to be the case but, the FAA refuses to correct the prob.

I contacted the owner and they in turn contacted the FAA of which called me and told me they were going to see how it does for 6 months before checking into it themselves. :axe:

So, this data goes into our forecast models. It's no wonder Temps in this area turn out colder than what Models project.

This has been my best winter day so far. I've had some cold nights, but this was a cold day :) Loved being outside with that wind blowing right through you in late afternoon. At dust it is 28.8. Sure wish this would just keep getting reinforced for the rest of the winter. I love a day like this. Days like this are the only thing that gets me though summer. T

I must have missed something along the way. This is my pinpoint from GSP for tonight!

Tonight: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 3am. Patchy fog before 10pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 16. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 22 and 24 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Quite amazing that its much colder down there than it is on Long Island. We will cash in shortly, but the angle of the front as allowed you guys to crash. Enjoy the cold and stay warm!

This cold came in roaring. It was one of those stiff cold winds that makes your jaw hurt. It reminded me of being in Canada and just before a blizzard rolled through (not as extreme of course) and wind just goes right through everything you're wearing.

My son had a 3:30 soccer game in Richmond so we left Greensboro @ 11am with a very quick flurry. I noticed on radar that a line was moving sse. I told my wife that it looked like we'd have a decent rain or snow set in about game time and last about an hour. Sure enough, at 3:30 dark clouds moved in, the wind began to howl, and stuff was blowing everywhere and it started to snow, and very hard. In fact, we had THUNDERSNOW. Two good hard rumbles about 10 minutes apart. It poured snow for much of the first half and halftime (about an hour total). It never really stuck as the temp at gametime was 45. Our next game tomorrow is in VA Beach, so we drove on 64 east. As we went through Williamsburg, there was over an inch on the ground. I was quite surprised at that. Anyway, it was good seeing the snow today and it will be quite a cold, chilly day for soccer tomorrow.
