Not crazy. Its funny to watch ppl get upset over the huge variation our region provides during NWFS. Your area, which I still am not sure where your at in haywood, but from your previous obs post during NWFS I can discern you could get that 2 - 4" by Sat afternoon.

We're going to fire up the snowgun Sat through Sun (about 26 hrs of snowmaking) as our amounts will be a dusting at best in the valley, so we need to get our fix via man made snow.

I live on Crabtree mountain in Haywood about 3500 feet along that favored mountain range for the NW flow. Ya i agree this is about as excited a s i have been for an event like this. Also it is amazing the snow totals that you can get when you get into one of those heavy bands. Were we live we can be killing it. Go down off the mountain about a half mile and nothing just flurries.

64 degrees today for the high as this extended spring continues. Time to put away the winter clothes that were never worn and bring out the flip flops and tank tops ;)

Today I thought the portals had moved as I had rain since about 1, and it took all day for the "rain" to wet the pavement. I doubt there were ever more that 25 or 30 drops in the air at anyone time, lol. But it "drizzled" most all day. I was out driving and the windshield was spotted constantly, but with only those 25/30 drips. Amazing. It's like anti-rain is falling so hard it destroys the real rain on the way down :) Tony

Saw a few rain showers today. Looking forward the wind event tomorrow. Currently we have a hard freeze watch and fire weather watch. I won't be surprised to see them issue a wind chill advisory sometime tomorrow and there be a lake wind advisory by morning. It going to feel cold as hell tomorrow night and sunday night. Colder than anything we have seen this winter besides Jan 3.

Rain. Looking like most of the event will fall as liquid in the valleys of NE TN. Not totally surprised but his one had some promise.

Completely different here just a few miles from you as we have 3/4 of an inch of snow already here in the valley with more above 2000 ft.

Precip. started as a mix here around 4 p.m. with all snow above 1600 ft.

Drove to Johnson City @ 8:00 for dinner and there was no precip - lol. Been raining here all evening. Wide range of weather happening, but local mets were pushing no more than one inch in the Tri-Cities. Your "neck of the woods" is usually prime for snow during these set-ups. Enjoy.

The incoming cold air is very comparable to the cold outbreak on January 3 this year. This one is about 1 to 2 degrees warmer though, so I don't think most areas will go any lower than the previous outbreak. The GFS, which has been unbeatable on surface temps in arctic outbreaks for the South for 3 straight years, has highs mid 30's in Atlanta's northern suburbs, same for Birmingham and Raleigh on Sunday.

The top image is the 850 temps Jan 3 outbreak, the bottom image is current 18 hour map from RUC.

Nope, the portals are in full swing here as usual. Not so much as a drizzle to dampen the ground

0 drops overnight leads to 0.00" for a storm total.

Exactly what I have here

Guys, you best get out from behind your computer screens and head over to the NC High Country today. This could very likely possibly bet our best snow of the season today.

Be very very careful though on the roads and know what your are doing. They were wet earlier and now they have flash frozen with temperatures just falling down into the upper tens. They are hazordous when coated with a layer of snow.

Sunday will still be a great day although the snow will be essentially wrapped up Sunday morning.

Get out and carve up a some slopes and trails with your skis!
