I love that part of it this time around, normally I would want snow on the ground for as long as possible. I have already made my peace with this winter ( or lack thereof) and see this as nothing but a bonus ...if it bust and I get nothing ( best case for my area as currently modeled right now would be around 2-4") thats fine too. I hope there is enough to let my son play in it Monday morning but that it is all gone by Monday night. Then please bring on spring I ready to go fishing.....

:) I do hope your son gets to play in the snow. Kids and kids-at-heart are the best part of snow that's for sure.

I want nothing more than to take my 7 month old Husky out and let him do what is in his nature to do...pee in the snow. :)

I actually like sleet as much as snow. My favorite storm of all time was the January 1996 storm. I was living in Wake Forest and we recieved around 5 to 6 inches of mostly sleet. 14 hours of sleet!! I even put that storm over the 20" storm of 2001. It was really cool to walk around the yard and to be six inches taller.

I'm with you. On average, the water content of IP is ~~three times that of the same depth of S. So, 5-6" of IP is ~~15-18" of S. Also, I'd guess that that the 5-6" of IP would melt more slowly in most cases. OTOH, some people would prefer to see the greater depth from S (they like how it looks) even though there is a lot more fluff (air) to it and no more water to it. Also, it is harder to play in IP (with the exception of Tony and his IPsledding) and it is hard to make IPballs and IPmen.

I know in GSO I've seen about 30 flakes this year and I'll be happy with anything that breaks the shutout for the year. I've lived here too long to think there can't be a warm nose, or dry slot, or any of 100 other different things that gets us shut out. I've seen 5-6 when T-1 was the forecast, and I've seen a cold rain while under a WSW for 6"+ of snow.

My bet is that we're going to be in the dry slot. TWC has a circle right over Forsyth and Davidson counties of absolutely nothing.

I too am an IP fan. Some of the very best snows around here have come down on top of sleet. It does make for some fantastic sledding as well. :)

BTW it is an absolutely gorgeous day with a temp of 61. Might see if I can get my tan on. :)

Snow looks cool when it's falling. Even moderate snow is more exciting looking than heavy IP.

It does stick around well, he's right about that. Don't be down on sleet. You just need more of it to make it worthwhile.

Where I live sleet is the kiss of death. Usually if I am getting sleet then i'm done and while areas just to my west will get bigger snows. In 2004 I had 2 inches of sleet/zr/snow while literally 9 miles west of me had over 6 inches pure snow.

It's such a pretty day today. Hard to imagine it snowing tomorrow night. But it was like that before the Christmas storm in 2010. Not unusual to see it go from a nice day to snow the next here. And the model trends still look good. I still think it will be colder and more precip when the system gets here. It seems ever since fall the amount and duration of precip around here is usually underestimated in the forecasts.

The entire comment by Widre slamming Christians is totally uncalled for.

I am a Christian, a Believer and keep the amour on and I WILL TAKE A STAND.

Matthew 10:

32“Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

And this is why I think it's necessary to keep calling you guys out on your stupidity until you lose that smug attitude.

I post funny comments all the time. Yeah it was funny. I thought of the same thing. But I ran it past my personal censor and it didn't pass.

It was a pretty tame comment. There's a whole "where's your God now" meme: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/where-is-your-god-now. Well known, been around for a while, mostly for the lulz. You have a pretty tight censor if that didn't get past it.
