FallsLake
So when does the next model run? I'm ready to see if the good trend continues. The NAM is next (within the next hour). It will be interesting to see if it holds it's ground or if it shifts south like the other models.
superjames1992
Some of you have a serious mancrush on Brick. Let it go. He says what 90% of AmericanWx lurkers are thinking. Every tragedy must have its Greek chorus. Ha, true. Brick also adds a lot of hilarity to threads. I think posters like Brick and Ji add a lot of value to the forum (within reason), but that's just me.

packbacker
It's been a tough winter for the east coast, I feel bad for the MA folks, the GFS and NAM were showing big hits and the Euro flirted with them a little until heading back south. I know I would be disappointed. I still don't think we get more than 1-2" out of this event, at best. Hopefully the northern counties and the mountains get a bigger hit. superjames1992
They're right you know. Perhaps! I mean, when you think about it, spending hours in front of a computer monitor looking at colorful maps of storms that may not happen isn't the most logical thing to do, but oh well! Gastonwxman
Thought this was pretty cool. Looked at radar back in Colorado, you can see this nice "S" shape show up. Brick Tamland
What's the word this morning? Local forecast only calls for a trace of snow Sunday night. Are any of the models showing more?
Brick Tamland
Sounds like the models are a tad further south and slower with the storm. I think that would be good to allow the cold air to get here sooner before the precip comes in. I think we're going to end up with more than a trace from this. I've seen it thundersnow 3 times though,Mar 93,Jan 03,and Mar 09. I'm almost 100% sure there was thunder sleet with a Feb. 2010 storm in CLT. I remember feeling so robbed. It's just loud and that's it. You'll be cursing at the sky that it isn't snow.

I was living in Wake Forest and we recieved around 5 to 6 inches of mostly sleet. 14 hours of sleet!! I even put that storm over the 20" storm of 2001. It was really cool to walk around the yard and to be six inches taller.
Brick Tamland
Really enjoying te trends. Keep it coming south and colder. I think we're close to something good around RDU.

I think our best case scenario is 2", realistically probably a dusting.
GaffneyPeach
To be honest even if it were to trend like nobody's business and accumulate AT ALL south of the current forecast it will be gone the same day. I've always loved snow but I'm not a fan of short lived storms. I like for the snow to hang around a while. Ehhhh...I sound like a downer so I'll hush now. Good Luck, though, to all those who may finally get that snow after all.
Dunkman
I know in GSO I've seen about 30 flakes this year and I'll be happy with anything that breaks the shutout for the year. I've lived here too long to think there can't be a warm nose, or dry slot, or any of 100 other different things that gets us shut out. I've seen 5-6 when T-1 was the forecast, and I've seen a cold rain while under a WSW for 6"+ of snow.

I have already made my peace with this winter ( or lack thereof) and see this as nothing but a bonus ...if it bust and I get nothing ( best case for my area as currently modeled right now would be around 2-4") thats fine too. I hope there is enough to let my son play in it Monday morning but that it is all gone by Monday night. Then please bring on spring I ready to go fishing.....
