My biggest concern for this storm system is that I am kind of proud that I haven't spent one single night up to watch the latter parts of the GFS, let alone the other models (Euro included). This storm could ruin my winter streak and make me cranky because of a lack of sleep. I can feel a late nighter or two coming on.

I don't get anyone saying if I don't get some snow, it'll be nice to see someone else get a big hit. That's like saying if I can't be with this girl I really like, it'll be nice to see her have sex with some other dude.

Oh lawwwd.

But your wife left me with the impression that you ok'ed it...

but she said I would do for now.

I broke my streak last night. I stayed up and watched the 0z euro come in. It was a good night stay up for but I'm paying the price today!

Haha, Im pretty sure my streak is gonna break tonight as I wait for the euro, probably to get pissed off by what it shows and not be able to sleep much, and really pay for it tomorrow.

Christmas storm last year ruined me. I can't live through that again. I was having dreams about models runs. Nope I won't stay up unless it's still around on Thursday.

LOL Three or four days prior to the Christmas storm had this board lit up like a tree. I was tempering my enthusiasm, but all I could see was well over a foot of snow. That was a some serious snow porn going on around on this board for a couple of days. LOL

Ohhh...I have no problems living through the Christmas storm again. ;)

I'm afraid this will end up like the Christmas storm for me again....1-2 inches of slosh that didn't really stick except on grassy surfaces. Surface temps did not cooperate on my side of CLT for that storm. From the discussions on the model for this weekend it seems like it could be the same here. Marginal temps, lack of HP to our north, etc, etc.

But that said, this is the first time my interest has been peaked this season, and it's long overdue. I don't see myself staying up for runs for a while though...maybe if it's still there in 3 days.

If you had not received an email notification regarding the Wxsouth site, please read below:

" If you subscribed through email and are a follower of this blog, without buying a paid subscription, would you click the link to "unsubscribe"? It's the honest thing to do and would prevent future problems with the owner and administrators of this service/website. We are aware of the bugs and we have a list of the initial users (IP and emails, usernames) that signed up before Wordpress jetpack was installed but we'd first like to ask unpaying followers to voluntarily "unsubscribe". Thank You!

PS...by now, you've probably seen (for free!) how often I update the site and offer my services, so won't you consider subscribing through the proper channels? It's cheap, affordable and you'll enjoy all of it."

What the heck side of Charlotte were you on? I was down near 51 and we had a descent 3 inches...streets covered and all. Here is a picture from that day on my side of town.

Boy I really wish this weekend storm would be good for the SE but Iv'e got a bad feeling about this. I hope I'm wrong but I think this storm will probably either be similar to the 18z gfs and fizzle out below us or more likey go to far NW and get the Mid Atl and NE a huge storm with a big phase happening to soon and draging the storm that direction. 12z runs were getting rather interresting and I know its just one model run but the GFS ensembles at 18z are showing those two scenarios mentioned above.

Hope for the best but trying to keep my expectations in check for now.

Oh man, GFS and EURO on board, as least for another couple of hours. This is the first time I've been a little giddy all dang year. . . makes you remember how incredibly fun last year was just in the sheer amount of systems that we got to track, this year, not so much.

Im gonna pop open a couple nice cold beers and await the arrival of the euro tonight, here's to it trending colder and snowier for all of us in the SE. :snowwindow:

p.s. can we make sure nobody starts a storm thread until at least 96 hours out? Hell id be fine if we didnt see one at all.

That sums it up....Euro says no winter for you. I mean obviously it's one run of one model, doesn't end the threat my any means, but the way this winter has gone I know we've all been expecting this.

wouldnt be any fun if the models said snow a week out and never lost it... right? actually that would be pretty fun, but its not the roller coaster we're used too. Just hate the fact that the Dr. is the one speaking and not the GFS, but none of the models have exactly handled things that well this year.

The pattern is a little different this go round as well, so it'll be fun to see which model ends up being right, but they're all saying we've got a shot, and thats better than nothing.

I just want to put my two cents in. When starting a storm thread you always give the person who started the previous mid range/long range thread the chance to start the specific storm thread...just helps the imaginary mojo and is polite. Of course MY thread was killed to early so technically it was my mojo but I won't split hairs.
