FSU losing was bigger than UNC. FSU beats both UNC and Duke and loses at BC... lol

I pull UNC (even though I never was a student at UNC) but that is what happens when you let a lead slip and miss a key FT. Great game..

And somehow we lose to Boston College... :cry: I guess we don't like being alone atop the ACC...

Well, looks like we might have something to watch for Valentine's Day. From msuwx on the other thread:

I posted this in the other thread, but thought I would put it here too.

For Tuesday AM in NC, far from an ideal setup. There is nothing at all to hold the cold air in with this setup. However, with that said, look at what happened just yesterday morning. There were some flakes out into parts of the NW piedmont with the lower levels hardly supportive. If the 12z GFS (and Euro now too) is a perfect prog (and most other models too), I would fully expect a period of snow with this out into the foothills and a chunk of the piedmont. How long it would last would depend on precip rates especially.

If you can get this to come in prior to daybreak, you might have a little something.

if it snows in the mountains of NC, though, that's nothing big. They are supposed to get snow. It's the mountains.

I see we are trying to make something out of nothing by adding threads for each threatened flurry. If I didn't want to stay here I'd add one for;

Heavy Snow Expected Above 7000 Feet

Normally, I'd agree with you. :) This year, each and every flurry is a HUGE deal!

:weenie::wub::snowing::thumbsup:

(I'm also catching up on my emoticons for the year)

Wow, great day today. Lots of fresh powder this morning. Probably got a total of a few inches last night. Great skiing. Not deep hardcore stuff but nice none the less. I came in at lunch, tired, and ate lunch and crashed on the couch for a few hours. When I got up about 4, looked out and it was snowing, and I bet I had another inch or so on the car. Kept snowing, and even picked up a bit between 4pm and now. I think it's done, but hope not. Should be incredible skiing tomorrow. Soft and light.

Enjoy your model watching....this stuff wasn't even predicted.

For those of you interested in the Christmas storm 2010 here are some images I have saved:

At one point, the models were showing upwards of 2 feet for central NC. THAT would have been amazing. I hope we can actually see a storm of that magnitude develop in the next few years. I don't believe it's out of the realm of possibility.

I am disheartened that we will probably get through this whole winter with no snow, though. This will go down as my number one worst winter of all time. At least State won tonight. :)

0z Euro on 12/22/10 showed 1.97" liquid precip for RDU...all snow...if only, eh?

I agree with you, this will go down as my worst winter of all time...I started following weather closely on easternuswx in winter of 08-09 so luckily my "intro" years have been unbelievable as far as storms are concerned, but this year I'm speechless...

I am happy about state's effort compared to last year...to think if we didn't lose that UVA game 60-61, we could be sitting on the top of the ACC now. With our next 3 games, I hope to win one out of the 3. I would love to win 2 of the 3, but playing Duke after their insane win over UNC makes me nervous. :bag:

I love how people think we're going to see winter weather in this area on Valentine's Day. I have a better chance of getting laid. Looks to me like 50 for a high with a 30% of rain for northern counties in Upstate SC.

:lmao:

Going on a little daycation with the gf...time to break out the flowers, chocolates and wine. :violin::wub:

Except those posters have a basic understanding of weather. You just rephrase what someone just stated to pretend like you have an opinion. I love you and all but it's getting pretty tiresome.

No, I do have an opinion. And I do have a basic understanding. If you don't like it, don't read it. Really, what is the big deal?

Ok, so just by reading, it sounds like central NC will not get anything wintry with these next two systems (this weekend or V-Day). :weep: So, am I correct that after next week things will be warming back up, and our chances of winter are pretty much done? I had previously thought that we were looking good for second half of Feb, but this doesn't sound like the case anymore. For this area, we have gotten snows in March, but I think it was years ago, like when our parents were young. I don't recall many big snows in March in my adult years. We did have one a few years ago the first week in March, but it melted really quick! I just don't see it happening this winter.....so disappointing.
