Cedar Rapids reporting Light Snow.. Hawkeye might be able to squeeze out an inch..

Yeah hopefully he'll do good with that second surge of precip early tomorrow. That's the one that should give Des Moines several inches.

Big cold rain drops falling right now here. I'm guessing these are from the melting of very large flakes aloft. Sure wish DVN had the dual-pol upgrade right now. They're slated for late March.

Got about 0.15" of rain this evening, but haven't gotten much recently as the band shifted south. I haven't seen any flakes. Maybe tomorrow morning.

Could get interesting for a short time up in your neck of the woods. Hoping we can squeak in at least a short period of snow, whether it accumulates or not. This system is a cruel tease for northern Illinois and points north and east.

woke up and looked outside and there's 2.5" of snow. thought I was dreaming. still snowing

Congrats! A thin east/west line just north of me looks like the jackpot area thanks to a combination of diabatic cooling and forcing.

0.3" fell in MBY before turning to a rain/snow mix here, while just to my north (FWA), it looks like 2"-4", thus further widening the gap between FWA's official snowfall total and mine. It's amazing what a difference 20 miles can make sometimes. I can understand this in the LES belts, but this has been mostly synoptically induced.

There's some wide ranges in amounts all across their zone forecasts. For Des Moines they have 2-9" lol. Lots of 1-9", 4-12", etc.
