40/70 Benchmark
Maybe we'll get a cutter next week..lol. Another screw job on the GFS. Oh the humanity if something like that were to transpire...I just hope that if we get porked again, it's owed to the colder underperforming, as opposed to cutters interrupting arctic dry heaves. The latter would prompt the deletion of my account.
Damage In Tolland
This model is so bad. Yet folks continue to look at it and use it
Baroclinic Zone
The weekend screw job is very possible. Interesting to see what the ensembles do. That ridge folding over and forming the cut off low is a screw job and a half. Congrats Duluth, MN.

Damage In Tolland
Why criticize it if nobody knows if it's right or wrong? If it was ever right we wouldn't have to. When it goes from a blizzard to OTS to a cutter over Chicago in the course of 3-4 runs ..it should be thrown into the ocean off the coast of Plymouth , Mass with bricks tied to it

Baroclinic Zone
I could see the Euro spitting out this result if it's know SW bias comes into play. The Euro holds onto that ULL in the SW longer than the 12z GFS.
CoastalWx
When has the Euro shown this storm being a cutter into the upper midwest? 24 hrs ago it gave us two snowstorms. 36 hrs ago it furnaced us with the first low. Last night was congrats Bermuda. How is that consistent? The point is all models have struggled. The 12z run has not come out yet, so it's early to judge. I'm also not saying the GFS is right, but it's also silly to claim its solution is garbage. It does look weird, but there are things going on to cause such crazy depictions. SouthCoastMA
fwiw, I believe the GFS was the least adamant about giving our area snow for Friday. It's had an OTS solution for that storm for days.

CoastalWx
Tip told us 2 days ago to toss the 12z Euro run as gentle breezes and warm high angle January sunbeams tickled his nape LOL, well in regime changes..things are always moving around so it can take time for everything to get adjusted and get in place. Things are moving along and progressing under the old pattern regime and then all of the sudden you build a huge ridge. When that happens..things can get cutoff and all whacked out until everything is flushed out and the new pieces of the puzzle are in place. Clinch Leatherwood
I think the point being missed is that forgetting the wild swings it's pretty clear sometime around the 8th or 10th a series of significant threats will evolve. Will they be fish storms or record making storms, who knows...but they'll be on the east coast of off it somewhere.
OKpowdah
This general trend so far this season is for the pattern to get to you. Wow, the GFS now shows our second storm cutting northward and torching New England. Who would have ever thought that would happen. Oh wait, that's right, I did. Give it up. Winter ended on November 1st.
