Coldest since 12/14/2007 when the high was 24 at NYC. Also had a 23 degree high on 12/20/1995. The last time NYC recorded a high below 23 degrees was 20 degrees back on 12/27/1993.

the high was 23 so its not the coldest since 12/14/2007 since its colder than that day...its the coldest since 12/20/95

And really its the coldest dec14 since 1902

Meh-- it was a bit more than 0.2 here, but now that we know they measure off of roof tops, its understandable with the wind and all :P

We got somewhere between half an inch and one inch here.  That NYC amount is interesting as some of the media is going with 0.3 inch and others are going with 0.1 inch.... again not much difference in the whole scheme of things (although one amount is 3x the other, just because the initial amount is so low lol.)

the max of 23 today stacks up to the 23 on 12/13/62 and 20 on 12/13/1960...20 on 12/12/1988...

I wish this was like 1960 lol.  Unfortunately I think we're headed more towards an 88-89 type winter.  Unc what was the lowest low in Dec 1955?  How much snow did we get that month and any significant storms?

Ahh, 1960..... great year. :snowman:

Vintage ;)  If snow were fine wine, I'd stock up on the 1887-88, 1898-99, 1916-17, 1947-48, 1960-61, 1966-67, 1977-78, 1993-94, 1995-96, 2002-03 and 2009-10 vintages and drink them during the awful winters to remember better times lol.

Don't look now, but ECM has a pretty favorable pattern for a snow event on Christmas....

Beautiful setup for that, very nice trough, and sfc low is off shore of Carolinas... Miller A/B type I would think.

and but the ridge in the Rockies is very ideal...

But its Day 7-8-9....:arrowhead:

rule of thumb for extended models...

10 days out...Historic storm...

5 days out.....Significant storm...

2 days out.....light snow...

day of event...P'cldy...

lmaosmiley.gif Isn't that the case!! As i think Chris L posted earlier - The setup is starting to look more favorable towards christmas weekend... but it is 8-9 days away!!!

Too bad we cant have a big lake just to our northwest-- it would be consistently snowy every year, regardless of enso or any other index.

Yeah I know right. Maybe we can start a movement to use some of that wilderness land in NE PA to construct a man-made lake. Put us in perfect trajectory for some streamers.
