AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY

851 PM EST MON DEC 13 2010

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/...

-- Changed Discussion --A DEEP UPPER TROUGH JUST TO THE WEST WILL BE SLOW TO PIVOT EAST

THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF COLD

ADVECTION. SNOW SHOWERS HAVE DEVELOPED...AND RAISED POPS

ACCORDINGLY FOR POSSIBLE PRECIP/SNOWFALL MEASUREMENT. ALREADY

GETTING REPORTS OF A DUSTING. BOUNDARY LAYER HAS COOLED

SUFFICIENTLY FOR MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE AREA TO OBSERVE SNOW.

OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL BOTTOM OUT IN THE MID TO UPPER TEENS NORTH

AND WEST OF NYC...AND IN THE LOWER 20S ELSEWHERE. OCCASIONAL WIND

GUSTS UP TO 20 MPH WILL PRODUCE WIND CHILL VALUES INTO THE SINGLE

DIGITS BY MORNING. THESE TEMPERATURES ARE ABOUT TEN DEGREES BELOW

NORMAL.-- End Changed Discussion --
