Ginx snewx
1/25/00 picked up a southern stream low and hurled it right up the coast. I'm not saying it would be identical, but models all had that moving NE harmlessly out and the interaction with the northern stream shot it right up the coast. Ginx snewx
True but the models were also focusing on the first set of s/w's which was an error due to either bad data or lack of coverage in western canada. The NGM was the first model to show the second set of s/w's developing something off the carolinas. It then lost it, but the other models finally followed inside of 24 hours. I'm a big believer in the storm rut type theory...that for whatever reason (I'm sure it's the underlying macro pattern that we don't understand yet) storms follow similar tracks. Wouldn't be surprised if we start to see that play out even this weekend with a similar BM track that mainly hits the people further SE. There's also some climo links Don S posted awhile back with this type of pattern producing the random big snow in SE New England. Hog

weatherwiz
At least Saturday looks interesting and there is certainly potential/room for some of these differences to be worked out. If the Euro/GFS are in a similar ballpark that will certainly be encouraging.
CoastalWx
I mentioned in Tip's thread that IF the GFS is right, then gotta watch when you have a +PNA and southern vortmax.

Clinch Leatherwood
I don't get channel 7 in Boston any longer. DTV won't pay the rates they wanted. So the single show I watched on NBC I now have to watch on Vevo (SNL). 52 degrees and I'm totally loving in....I'm out there like Kramer in Seinfeld. Brian5671
Except for you of course! LOL. I just don't watch local newscasts anymore regardless of weather-get the news off the net more than anything else and don't really need to hear about the new deli opening in Bristol.....10 years ago, always watched a local newscast...sign o the times I guess

Clinch Leatherwood
Snowpack crying for momma. Let everyone realize the power of a torched atmosphere and mixed boundary layer. Checked the buoys real quick. Buoys. Se of ACK is 47.7 versus in the 42s on this day last year, SSTs of +5 Buoy off Cape Anne about 44ish, was about 40ish last year...about 3-4 degrees above normal. That's just as incredible to me and will have an effect come springtime. Water temp being in the low 50s off the Cape Anne area versus mid/upper 40s has a big influence on NE wind.
