mahk_webstah
if the air is so dry why is the dp so close to the air temp up here?
Snow Bow
if the air is so dry why is the dp so close to the air temp up here? Maybe higher humidity at the surface than aloft? Sneaky dry layer?
Ginx snewx
Ceilings are steady or even coming up a bit in S CT and LI. May take quite some time to get anything in here. Good, see Upton cancelled for the coast

TalcottWx
if the air is so dry why is the dp so close to the air temp up here? Doesn't mean its saturated aloft
HIPPYVALLEY
Up to 18F here. Judging by radar I'm not sure we see anything until mid-morning in which case it could very well be getting close to 32F
TalcottWx
Seems really dry in the mid levels looking at the skew
Logan11
I'm not quite sure why people care about getting freezing drizzle. LOL My only interest would be staying below 32 as long as possible, but I could care less if it precipitates ...unless it's of the frozen variety. A balmy 25 here..... Up to 18F here. Judging by radar I'm not sure we see anything until mid-morning in which case it could very well be getting close to 32F

That's all you need. It's sufficiently below freezing to produce crappy flakes.

dendrite
That's all you need. It's sufficiently below freezing to produce crappy flakes. The NJ soundings are a little warm for ice nucleation though. I don't see anything near -4C or colder.

CoastalWx
The NJ soundings are a little warm for ice nucleation though. I don't see anything near -4C or colder. Must be just good enough for crappy snow grains or flakes.
CoastalWx
In Butler, you have some orographic lift which may deepen the cold layer just a bit.
powderfreak
Snowing a little this morning... what else is new? lol 22F with -SN. Just a trace dusting of white on the roadways. Not even a tenth of an inch.

mattb65
Went from a few renegade flakes to flurries. Enough to give a light coating on everything. The flakes are rather large and may be aggregates.

J.Spin
Event totals: 0.1” Snow/Trace L.E. There was a tenth of an inch of new snow on the snowboard this morning with light snow falling at observation time. It looks like another tenth of an inch or so has fallen, but I’ll check on it later. Details from the 6:00 A.M. Waterbury observations are below: New Snow: 0.1 inches New Liquid: Trace Temperature: 25.1 F Sky: Light Snow (1-4 mm flakes) Snow at the stake: 10.0 inches
ORH_wxman
You can get ice nucleation as warm as -6 or -5C with wetbulb temps if you have ocean air with lots of sea salt.
