I'm sounding like a warminista but screw winter and let's get this spring going. I just ordered a new roof rack for my bike and am ready to ride my azz off.

It is Spring right now. Well at least the temperatures are Spring-like.

But I still want to see more snow...I'll ride it out it until the bitter end. Of course I'm in the minority...

Finally took my car out for a spin, slid right down the driveway backwards and almost hit a rocky ledge. I dislocated my shoulder as I maneuvered to save the car. Popped it back in and my apartment agency sent out some workers to salt the ice so I could get my car out. :axe:

You better move back down to Florida if you can't handle this non-winter without getting hurt.

Heading into the final month of met winter, currently the winter of '11/12 is the warmest on record for Chicago since the official recording site was moved from downtown (1942)...and it's tied for the 9th warmest on record overall.

1. 37.5 - 1878-79

2. 36.0 - 1931-32

3. 35.8 - 1889-90

4. 35.5 - 1879-80

5. 35.0 - 1913-14

6. 34.4 - 1875-76

7. 34.3 - 1918-19

8. 33.2 - 1881-82

9. 32.7 - 2011-12

This winter has just been depressing. Even more depressing after reading through the GHD threads from last year. Bring on the warmth and severe weather. I'm ready to chase.

I'm thinking an earlyish season at this point but that is mainly based on statistical considerations from previous years that produced January tornadoes in the OV.

Turtle-

Do they not salt anything there? I can't believe there would be any ice left in Madison. Better just bury the gas pedal and melt it all off.

My apartment agency is really crappy with the salt. Also, running all the melt water from the roof down the driveway might have something to do with it lol

The car has too much power to mess with it much if you're stuck, I coulda easily smashed it into the rocks.

I would have thought 1997-98 would have made the top ten! Any idea where that El Nino winter ranks?

If you get a dislocated shoulder back in fast enough there won't be much lingering pain or immobility. When it was out I couldn't move it at all though.

Up to 42 °F, at least it's a warm day.

You should be an on air weather met... They seem to like warm weather as much as you. 99% of us weather fanatics like brutal cold and snow, yet the on-air guys at least pretend to like the warmth.. You would at least be genuine.

I think it's time to concede that this winter, astoundingly, will not feature a somewhat extended period of winter weather. Per the NE subforum, the EURO ensembles look like the GFS through D10. That is, dry, NW flow with heavily modified arctic air located across northern sections. Then +PNA breaks down and we're flooded with pacific air again beyond D10.

The only thing to look forward to is the possibility of a snowstorm. Rooting for snowcover, cold, frequency of snowfalls, total snowfall are all lost causes as far as I can see. In a few weeks, we're already into that time of year where those characteristics become less likely even in a normal winter.

"knock on wood" I've never dislocated anything!

Made it to 42° today, NE winds off the lake have cooled it off to around 37° now. Cloudy pretty much all day.
