Was just looking through my records again, and found an interesting stat. The snow season was essentially finished after the GHD storm last season. From this point forward last season we only received another 3.0" of snow the rest of last season. That combined with this season's total of 11.9" makes for a total of 14.9" over the last one year period on this date. Pretty astounding stat imo.

EDIT: Just checked MLI, they've had 12.4" over that same one year period. WOW.

I hope I wasn't the only one who saw that crazy looking moon around 8 PMish (straddling the horizon).

I've never seen the moon that close, big or orange before.

Same thing out this way and the day before as well. Was gonna snap a pick but got distracted the day before and well last night i started to get sick throwing up/fever etc. I have seen it before but it has been a good number of years. Very cool to see.

I don't see anything on the GFS that says pattern change. More of the same. We get through Feb with just this shot of cold and it will have been an amazingly warm winter.

Still have snow cover in these parts, but its more or less clumps in the shade. I would imagine next week, if we can get some sun should finish most of it off. NWS showing near 40F by Weds.

NAEFS shows normal temps the last week of Feb for most of the midwest.

That can be decieving though. The plants/flowers only know what's happening right now.

Shouldnt matter. These early springs always seem to feature early budding and green shoots. Even if march is on the cool side the damage is done. This cold snap is Febs last stand. Met spring is 2 weeks away. Unreal how this winter went down. DTW sub 30 inch is almost a lock!

Had a clear sky Wednesday evening here in SWMI and saw similar moon rise. Fantastic and no, never saw the huge moon in winter before, only in Autumn. Strange, really. Follows this winter I guess.

They're mowing the grass in MI already, didn't you hear?

Not quite, thankfully. That chore can hold off a couple more months as far as I'm concerned. But, I've had Daffodils that are up at least 5" in an East facing garden. Heck, they were 2" on 27-Jan when I 1st noticed them and couldn't believe it. January! Crazy stuff.
