Just got back to Middletown after spending the morning in Cromwell. What a difference 6 miles makes! There was less than three inches on the ground in Cromwell. We've got a bit more than 5 inches here with heavy snow (though it's just tappering off).

Looks like the heaviest stuff was just south of us, but very pleased with the accumulation here.

Event totals: 2.2” Snow/0.06” L.E.

The accumulated snow from this last round was very dry as anticipated, coming in well under 5% H2O. The stuff that has been falling is actually a bit fluffier than the 1:50 that came in for this aggregate noontime reading, as there were still a couple tenths of an inch of the tiny flakes from earlier today on the bottom of the snowboard stack. Since the 12:00 P.M. clearing, another 0.3” has fallen.

Some details from the 12:00 P.M. Waterbury observations are below:

New Snow: 2.0 inches

New Liquid: 0.04 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 50.0

Snow Density: 2.0% H2O

Temperature: 15.8 F

Sky: Light Snow (2-15 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: 11.0 inches

That's BS

I could see 8 or 9 but that sounds way too high... and that's from the slant stickers that came up with like 33" from the blizzard last year.

to call something b.s right off the bat ....where a band of nearly 3/hr stuff was falllin for a couple hours + seems silly

seems we didn't have a poster on board directly under that band of 35 dbz stuff....we had a few people in the S+ but maybe not right under it.

thou i don't know what litchfield libations has measured but 10 inch measurements in s ct where the band set up is not a stretch when 5 inches in two hours likely fell

and that tweet location is right where the brite bright banding set up......where storm history shows .5+ qpf swath already fell

In most storms there is gonna be some weenie band that sets up and exceeds forecasts. If the met's forecasted for that upper end ..then the 90% of the region that doesn't get nearly as much would call it a busted forecast.

Up here on the fringe 1.5 inches was it. Flurries at times and a nippy 13.5F. About 5.5 to 8 inches on the ground.
