simpsonsbuff
I just heard the nanny mayor Bloomberg say that the snow didn't meet accumulation expectations and they won't need to plow ...just salt... Is this true? I thought NYC had good banding over them. 1.5 inches was it here....a case of too much arctic air. 13.5 now. But I have a good 7 or 8 inches in the woods where I x country ski so could be worse. I dont' know about the rest of the city, but here in the NW Bronx, a plow has come through a couple of times... bluewave
And I'm done. Last band gone. 7 You guys usually do well in these set ups. That was a nice band up there.
Manny
It's all over here. Decent storm. About 4" here. What was expected.
Logan11
Nate ...let's just hope this NAO block doesn't send everything south of our latitude up here.... that would be an insult. Dobbs Ferry had 10" with the 10/29 event and now 5" with this storm. 15" for the winter isn't THAT bad on 1/21 with the snowiest month still to come and a potential -NAO block. That's far more than seasons such as 01-02, 97-98, or 72-73. I believe my house at 350' averages around 38" per year. I could easily see an average to above average winter in snowfall for NYC metro, especially since the 0z ECM and 12z GEFS have a semblance of a -NAO. The best snows occurred just north of Manhattan. Plowing is probably needed on many side streets, but overall the intensity was light so impact is modest. ag3
Plows are out here in Astoria. Only on main roads. Side roads are untouched and very slippery.

TheTrials
You guys usually do well in these set ups. That was a nice band that set up there. Normally i flip over to rain and danbury on north is the big winner but the forciing clearly never got that far. I was still a tad south of the best of the best, wilton got crushed, they must have 12 up there, but i did very well and I am happy.

psv88
im surprised at how cold it is, back down to 26, and sleet. that makes 2 hours of sleet, w a bit of freezing rain earlier. Mid-week Most models had the temps rising above freezing later in the day...

simpsonsbuff
Why the devil do they still include a Bedford Park measurement from 520 a.m.? That was high for the time, btw... We'll see if they readjust or something.
RUNNAWAYICEBERG
I measured just over 5" on my board in my front yard. not sure about the CT dept of Transportation reporting 3.5" in danbury. and of course west wilford wins again!
bluewave
It will be interesting to see how the NWS liked the dual pol for the different precip types today. Maybe one of the guys can sneak a few slides in here later if they can.

Sey-Mour Snow
I think some locations near 1000ft in northern Westchester are well above 20" for the year. with this snowfall many places in the lower hudson valley and inland sw ct are between 25-35" for the year. 10-20" from octobers storm, 5-10" today, and up to 5" in other light snow events.. we are right on average after almost a 2 and a half month break absence from measurable snow. TheTrials
id be shocked not to see some 8-10" totals from the CT south shore. Easily since i had 7 and still missed the best stuff. Not complaining, just offering perspective when the higher totals come in and people are unsure of them.
