I just heard the nanny mayor Bloomberg say that the snow didn't meet accumulation expectations and they won't need to plow ...just salt... Is this true? I thought NYC had good banding over them.

1.5 inches was it here....a case of too much arctic air. 13.5 now. But I have a good 7 or 8 inches in the woods where I x country ski so could be worse.

I dont' know about the rest of the city, but here in the NW Bronx, a plow has come through a couple of times...

Nate ...let's just hope this NAO block doesn't send everything south of our latitude up here.... that would be an insult.

Dobbs Ferry had 10" with the 10/29 event and now 5" with this storm. 15" for the winter isn't THAT bad on 1/21 with the snowiest month still to come and a potential -NAO block. That's far more than seasons such as 01-02, 97-98, or 72-73. I believe my house at 350' averages around 38" per year. I could easily see an average to above average winter in snowfall for NYC metro, especially since the 0z ECM and 12z GEFS have a semblance of a -NAO.

I've seen at least 4 maybe 5 over the last several hours and I'm inside NYC's jurisdiction. Not sure what he's talking about.

Accumulations reached the low end of the forecast range in most places. The best snows occurred just north of Manhattan. Plowing is probably needed on many side streets, but overall the intensity was light so impact is modest.

You guys usually do well in these set ups. That was a nice band that set up there.

Normally i flip over to rain and danbury on north is the big winner but the forciing clearly never got that far. I was still a tad south of the best of the best, wilton got crushed, they must have 12 up there, but i did very well and I am happy.

I think some locations near 1000ft in northern Westchester are well above 20" for the year.

with this snowfall many places in the lower hudson valley and inland sw ct are between 25-35" for the year. 10-20" from octobers storm, 5-10" today, and up to 5" in other light snow events.. we are right on average after almost a 2 and a half month break absence from measurable snow.
