Chris L
1-3,2-4 and 3-6 inches are normal around here instead of those 12 + storms. People should really be happy that we are having snow because the pattern isn't that good for snow. It's all because since December 2009, we got 7 KU since then. I agree, this is a normal event for us and it's wonderful to see.

Stop being a , uptons snow map shows 5 inches for my area, we got 1.5, thats a bust.

Let's see what they report at 1pm. who gives a rats as s about him, all he wants is to be the center of attention in a negative way, and its working. Everyone ignore him and enjoy the snow. Guest Pamela
...what about the rising temps, william??.its gonna be a race to the finish w/ regards to temps rising and the snow/precip. winding down.. Per the 12z NAM, while KNYC is reasonably dry after 1:00 PM (around 0.05 after)...Islip still gets 0.17,Upton 0.19, Westhampton 0.23, and Montauk 0.25....only problem might be a slight push of warm air @ 900 MB...but even there it barely breaks 0 C briefly before heading down again....fair chance some report from Long Island will come close to 7 or even 8 inches... MJO812
He lives a mile from JFK. Let's see what they report at 1pm. JFK reported 0.4 at 7 am. They are probably going to under measure the snow once again.

NYCSuburbs
over the last 10 years it's happened a lot. It did happen a lot over the last 10 years, but I made that post to compare it to last year's snow events which were mostly warmer than this one; even most of 09-10's snowstorms were warmer, and considering how most of this winter has been warmer than average a snowstorm with 20 degrees in the middle of the warmth is also impressive. ag3
JFK reported 0.4 at 7 am. They are probably going to under measure the snow once again. You said you had under an inch at 7:30. So that measurement sounds right.
Mr Torchey
What a great morning, 4.7 here now hoping for 7-9. psv88
looks like 20 miles NW of bridgeport will be the jackpot zone, must be some nice totals in there, also north fork of the island has been heavy all morning

You're pretty much the exact opposite. An embarrassing excuse for a troll. Anyhow, snow still falling moderately here. Light, fluffy flakes. Enjoying every second. MJO812
You said you had under an inch at 7:30. So that measurement sounds right. Forget what I said. I eyeballed it so it wasn't a measurement. TheTrials
*someone get Sickman or earthlight in here to own that guy there is a report button, lets all use that instead of screaming about it, me included, because this thread is about the storm, not him anyway, im just south of that band, looks like the merrit parkway is getting slammed no complaints here though, doing just fine, working on 4 inches. NYCSuburbs
Snow picking up a bit in NE bergen county... probably another 15-20 mins of moderate snow before the snow starts to weaken. I'll measure the final total once it's over but looks like about 4" to maybe 4.5" to me.
Stormlover74
In the last couple frames you can sort of see some light snow filling in out in Hunterdon and south towards Philly. Maybe this will consolidate and give us one last burst

SnoSki14
There haven't been many happy endings this winter but this storm is definitely one of them. Many METS thought the models would trend north and warm things up giving us sleet/rain or all rain a few days ago and the opposite happened. Also it's not a marginal surface temp situation either, it's pretty darn cold for this one too so that's a plus.
danstorm
Though radar would say otherwise, some of the best rates of the day here in Manhattan. 2.5" roughly with good dendritic growth for a change

Last year had colder storms than 09-10. However, if we had colder temps in 09-10, then the area would have probably gotten 10-20" more snow that season.
