Chris L
Low 20's in Central Park right now. A week ago models were showing upper 40's for today. That is hilarious anyway, temp here has not moved; still at 20 degrees; and moderate snow.
bmc10
So Mt. Earthlight moved to my location for the storm, no surprise I am in the jackpot. About 4.5 and counting. Been under the band the entire morning.
NYCSuburbs
I'm now under the 25dbz band... barely even considered as moderate snow, the only difference is that instead of a few flurries, there's bigger snowflakes falling. I'll be lucky if I get more than 1/2 inch for the rest of the event.
Stormlover74
This radar shows it better. Snow has ended over Somerset, parts of Union and to the S&W I don't see a dryslot heading towards the area. http://www.intellica...rSmoothPaletteA The models had rain for today

NYCSuburbs
The amazing aspect of the storm is that it's been snowing most of the time with only 20-22 degrees... even most of last year's storms were warmer than this, only the 12/26/10 blizzard and maybe another one were colder. eduggs
The KNYC ASOS measures liquid well. Its got .24 so far as of 925am, thats pretty much on track. KNYC liquid matches up well with other ASOS from earlier this morning, so I'm inclined to believe that most of them are reasonable today. If the .24 from KNYC is legit, the 0.15 from KMGJ and the 0.12 from KPOU are probably also good. That looks slightly below model forecasts unless the backedge overproduces. Stations in the mid and upper hudson valley, and low Catskills are also likely to come in slighty under guidance.
RutgersWx92
Had been a sleet/snow mix here for the last half hour or so, and now it looks to be ending. So mixing had little effect on our total accumulation here. Seems like the storm did end earlier than expected (wasn't supposed to be over until 12-1 pm). I'll go out and measure but I'm guessing slightly over 3 inches.

Makes it even more ironic considerably how well above normal Nov-Jan are temperature wise. I guess the same irony can be played out for the October 29 storm too. KEITH L.I
God..most of you are spoiled from the last 10 years..in the 70's this would be a really nice snowfall..they forecasted 3-5 and that's what we have..enjoy
NorEaster27
Just measured and it was worse than I was expecting, only 1.5 inches of snow so far. Probably finish with ~2 inches. Bust by Upton, but verification for Channel 7 and my own forecast. It wasn't the warm ocean but just a lack of precip as the steadier snows lined up just to the NW, NE, and of course SW. The NAM actually showed this banding very well, kudos. This is what 1.5 inches of snow looks like: Pathetic storm for a pathetic winter here. TheTrials
Some you don't deserve any damned snow at all. this, a 3-5 inch forecasted even that verifies and everyone can see it during the day and people are moaning and complaining? Back when eastern first started, those people would be timed out within second of their post and probably stay that way for the rest of the winter. and btw, congrats Tornado Jay on ending your skunked streak...happy for you man! People should really be happy that we are having snow because the pattern isn't that good for snow.

snowman21
How off are heated rain gauges? Do I lose some precip due to evaporation? You could lose some due to evaporation, especially in lighter precip. In higher precip rates the impact isn't as great.

Most of the area will get between 3-5 inches. I doubt you only got that much snow.
