IWC
The whiteness of the snow points out how I need to paint the fence and swing this spring: Just pressure wash it, add a lil bleach green is gone. Should do it before you paint anyway.

MDstorm
temps going nowhere. yay cad. Lack of precipitation. Boo. I guess the Euro wasn't that far off with its ideas of lite precip for this event. Second wave with significant icing was definitely a no-show. No big deal. This was just an appetizer for Feb. I'll probably do a post on futility records. We got through the 1st 2. I think there are a couple in the 2-3" range. Once we get to the 5-8" range there are a lot more examples which is why we might just end up in that range .

The 4/001 indicates at least 0.5" of snow on the ground (which also got reported in the 12z and 18z reports). On top of that, they got 0.17" of water equivalent from just snow. There's no way they only got 0.4". EDIT: All of the reports around BWI that were under an inch were reported between 7-10am... plenty of time for compaction and interference with sleet/freezing rain to lower the totals. ... granted, all the other reports made in that area were in that timeframe as well. The evidence seems irrefutable to me unless the METAR totally crapped the bed... given all the other observations in the area I would say that the METAR is correct. Ian
FYI. 1943-44 was adjusted up for some reason I think the records from when they transitioned locations might not have been great. Ahh I guess they oficially changed them. Jason forwarded an email about that from LWX. Its like a 4 or 5 season period they were using monthly and seasonal from the wrong location. I'll dig it up.
