real
When was this the case? I think most people at least DC north and west were expecting "decent" snow (decent for this year). Maybe most people on here were expecting a half-inch or so in the city, but I really wasn't. When you live in the city, and see forecasts for "less than an inch," you learn after awhile that can just as easily mean nothing, or it won't stick, etc. Pretty sure all the TV mets, Cap Weather, etc, were also forecasting less than an inch all day. Don't think I met one person today at work, out, etc, that said, "it's suppose to snow tonight." -- that very common refrain when people expect even minor amounts. PhineasC
it's always awesome when people who never forecast anything give people who do a hard time. and i think cwg is nailing it so far as usual. lwx has a history .. i called them out. maybe they'll go against their history. You need to learn to take a joke about CWG. It's just frozen water.

Kmlwx
Dumping snow pretty nicely here right now. Wonder if we are about to switch over - would seem that way based on the YodaMap.
stormtracker
Nice little event...sleet here now, but more snow than expected...Matt's pretty close to the mark.
Ian
i went out to measure.. mostly like 1.1-1.25" or so. i got one about 1.4 but that was one spot in 10. tho i was running below matt earlier so maybe he got into a heavier band. re lwx: even if an adjustment was fine.. no way we were getting 3" imo. 1-2" would have been a better move at game time. basically all sleet now. mattmfm
inch or two, mixing with sleet at this point. twas nice, and joy for this winter, bit amused at the attention this system is getting though to be honest.
chris87
I don't have a snowboard. Thats why I measured on multiple surfaces to get a median. Quit nagging your ass off. Can u describe how you compute the median from two observations? jk
BethesdaWX
Can u describe how you compute the median from two observations? jk I'm lazy, and it requires a supercomputer Meanwhile heavier band is about 50/50 snow/sleet mix but sleet is becoming more predominate over snow, but flakes are fat. Dalfy
Only a dusting? I'm closing in on at least a half inch here now it seems. We aren't too far from each other but I guess it's possible. Nope i had to check, and when I did I had around a half inch.. Then an hour or so later I checked again and I was up to an inch. I'll probably go out in a bit to see whether It's changed over or not, when I was out the snow looked to be a mix of graupel flakes and normal flakes. Temp is at 24. Kmlwx
Almost all sleet here now. That was fast! - I might try to catch some sleep before any icing. No reason to stay up if nothing is happening.

WVclimo
Latest RUC keeps measureable precip going straight through until morning here. The VVs associated with the convection in TN move up the Apps and reach here by 5 a.m. 850mb still sub-zero at that time. Sleet, I'm guessing. wxmeddler
Well, that's intresting. I am back over to snow with this moderate band. I for sure thought after I got grapule that was the end of my snow day. About .5" of Snow and Grapule.

Bob Chill
Just about 1.25" here. Hittin the sack before the sleet/zr sets in. Widespread 1" event. Keeps this winter off the bottom of the list. yay
Deck Pic
matt might be inflating. I was kind of lol. I went back out and did a loop around the hood and 1.25" is the amount. There were some 1.5's but they were outliers.

Jebman
Temps are slowly rising on a weak southeast wind, and as the energy in the southwest reaches us around daybreak - temps will break freezing and we will enjoy a proper, soaking regular rainfall through the day. Kmlwx
Crowd is thinning in here. Probably will head to bed myself. At least for a few hours. I guess any icing will be towards daybreak.
