turtlehurricane
amazing that ORD is +SN and I'm -SN, wonder if there is some sinking motion in wake of the lake band that went through Good observation, there is indeed sinking air on either side of an LES snow band, or in a case like this air rising slower. A-L-E-K
Best I can get to show the snow. capturing snow is hard, looks like mod snow based on visibility...returns upstream look good and we should be on target for 4-6 area wide.

Toronto4
For those in the Toronto area, I'm calling for an average of 1-2" (2-5 cm). The latest HRRR model run is suggesting a sharp northern cutoff somewhere in the Greater Toronto Area, with heavier amounts along the lakeshore/downtown core and points southwest and only a trace to a dusting in the northern parts of the GTA. Based on this, here's a rough guide: Mississauga/Burlington/Oakville (south of highway 401): 2-3" (5-7 cm) Downtown Toronto/southern Etobicoke: 3-5 cm Southern Scarborough (south of highway 401): 2-4 cm Northern Toronto (north of highway 401): 2-3 cm Brampton: 2-3 cm Vaughan/Markham: 1-2 cm Richmond Hill/Newmarket: Trace to 1 cm

Lake effect band just east of Waukegan. About 10 miles from here. Pouring small flakes outside!

turtlehurricane
That snow band off to the west is looking really strong, KARX is scanning up to 35 dBZ at 5000-6000 feet, KMKX is seeing up to 30 dBZ at 10000+ feet. I bet it's even stronger below 5000 feet, and this thing is coming straight for Madison. Also it's backbuilding, could extend the storm.
Chicago WX
A few flakes, a few pellets with this last batch here on the east side...very light.
GordoFabulous
Light snow beginning in Muncie, 16/9. Heavier radar returns getting here shortly. So far it's all snow, and I'll sacrifice a goat for it to stay that way.

A-L-E-K
just went for a quick walk to the liquor store...visibility and rates definitely are high end moderate or low end +SN...it's pouring and we're probably right around and inch, that said flake side still struggling...if we start seeing more dendrites, rates will go well over 1"+ per hour. OT but for about an hour or so under the lake band from last event, it was snowing about twice this hard...a really impressive band in hindsight.
