Mrs.J
I have a question. Washington Co. and NW is under a Winter storm watch. After reading the WP article and it placing Frederick Co. in Zone 4 why do we not have an advisory up here, or did I miss something?

After reading the WP article and it placing Frederick Co. in Zone 4 why do we not have an advisory up here, or did I miss something? NWS is going to wait until the 3pm forecast I guess. Remember, WaPo doesn't determine warnings/advisories. I'd guess warnings will go up for the watch area and advisories elsewhere.
Mrs.J
because the National Weather Service and the Capital Weather Gang are 2 separate entities. NWS is going to wait until the 3pm forecast I guess. Remember, WaPo doesn't determine warnings/advisories. I'd guess warnings will go up for the watch area and advisories elsewhere. Yea I know they are not one in the same. I guess in the past I had remembered the NWS issuing earlier. No biggie was just wondering.

Kmlwx
NWS does seem slow on this one. Not super high impact since it's a Friday evening. No real urgency to get a big message out.

Bob Chill
the CAD signature at the surface is pathetic IIRC that is always the case with the Euro. It's not programmed well to pick up that type of nuance from what I've seen.

North Balti Zen
Still feels like Euro against everyone else. Either the Euro scores a coup inside of 12 hours (which I thought wasn't its strong point) or we get a decent slug of snow. Hoping Euro hasn't sniffed something out. Have heard a lot of criticisms over the years on the Euro in the short range, but hadn't heard that it was pretty good on precip close in.

Bob Chill
.15 seems really light but .50+ seems kinda heavy considering the strength of the system. It's not really all that impressive. .25 - .50 seems like a fair range all things considered. I guess it also depends of how long it takes to saturate the column too. It's awful dry out there.
