IrishRob17
Its practically your backyard lol.. How far are you from MGJ? About two miles south of MGJ. They do have three snow guns which are used first on half the tubing hill, then the second half of the tubing hill. Each half has 5 lanes so when both sides open up there are 10 lanes of sliding fun! Once all 10 lanes have enough snow they will then start making snow for the sledding hill. Due to the warm December we've had they are behind on the snow making but they now making up for lost time. IrishRob17
Yeah i probably will, thats not a bad drive for me at all. I still need to be talked out of driving to lake placid and home in one day tomorrow though. Here's a tip if you come up here, park at the bottom of the hill for sledding. If you come back for tubing then you'll want to park at the top of the hill near the lodge. Too bad I'm working today or I could meet you up there and maybe sneak you a libation

After this weekend they should have close to 10" of natural snow on the ground.. Nice little base there

West Point, NY
Snow is coming Yeah, this looks like a overperformer for us. Probably average about 4" west and 4-5" east in Orange.
Juliancolton
16/10 here, forecast low 20F. Snowpack and a clear sky working together.
chietanen
What do you guys think for us in the HV? Agree with the 4-6 from the NWS? I was wondering if we were going to be stuck in between the decaying storm and the coastal, but the radar seems to be filling in nicely so far. West Point, NY
Just my 2 cents.............Not too excited around here for this storm. Primary low stayed together well to our west and it's snows are going up to the areas that got nailed a couple of days ago. The coastal forming looks to slam SE New England with our area being an in between screw zone as the energy transfers over us. There is a good steady push of snow coming from SE PA that will give us a couple of inches this afternoon but for us the 2 at most, 3 inch snow fest should be winding down by dinnertime. One of my old snow adages that usually works pretty well is that when a storm starts off like this (on and off for an extended period, or poor flake size or pellets), it usually means the storm will under perform. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm not too excited about Outside of a 10 minute burst of sn+ it's not done anything imby. Lets see what the afternoon brings.

snywx
3-5" I think is all we were expecting to begin with. Anyone expecting more was in line to be let down. I think all is going as planned Nice heavy snow falling
IrishRob17
Moderate snow falling here once again
Juliancolton
Nice vertical plummeting of flakes... snow growth doesn't look great as I expected but it's awesome that the snowpack is getting freshened. Radar looks decent, agree with being on track.
chietanen
Looks like we should be in moderate to heavy snow for awhile, especially if the band starts to pivot.
West Point, NY
About 2" here now. I'm envious of whats blowing up south of LI and headed into CT/RI/SE MASS
West Point, NY
Seems like that convection is starting to rob from the snow shield to the west as the low intensifies and consolidates

snywx
Looks like a general 3-4".. Pretty much spot on with the initial forecast of 3-5"
Juliancolton
I'm not optimistic. About 2" OTG with flakes getting smaller and rates lowering. It's a nice mood snow, and who knows... maybe come April it'll make the difference between 98" and 100"

Radders
3.5 or 4" here.. Depending on where I measure... Sounds similar to other reported totals.. About what I expected.. A nice little event
IrishRob17
Somehow I made it to 4". Light snow still falling and the snow guns blasting away on the tubing hill. Nice evening.
Juliancolton
3.7" here, did better than I expected. Light snow showers should continue for a few hours on-and-off, might be able to justify 4" if I can get one more burst and account for compaction. I took quite a few pictures throughout the day, will post a couple shortly.
Juliancolton
When I went outside this afternoon, I thought I saw plenty of beautiful dendrites falling at the height of the precip rates. I got my macro lens and tried to get some shots, but most of what I saw was fragments of dendrites. Not sure what disrupted them but I'm posting one for the effort. Juliancolton
OK, much better! This is probably one of the best snowflake shots I've gotten. Awesome structure to these dendrites in the last few snow flurries. I didn't think it'd be possible to get good closeup shots in the dark, but I used an LED flashlight and the flakes really caught and reflected the light. I won't spam any more files, just thought this was neat.
