NYCSuburbs
Finally some interesting weather coming up.. Maybe we can cash in on some of the white stuff As soon as I leave for NE NJ there's the potential for widespread snow showers in the Hudson Valley this weekend, the first of several potentials... it seems wherever I go it just doesn't want to snow. You'd be better off with me staying there for a while
itsdnice
Light snow is falling up here in Rock Hill..
MidHudsonWeather.com
To say I'm excited about the coming 2 weeks of weather would be a tremendous understatement. Most models agree on some form of Christmas Day snow event. A dusting to an inch seems most likely for the area, but snow falling and sticking would be a GREAT present for all of us. Then there's the 27th/28th storm... what can be said? 00z GFS drops 10" on Mid Hudson Valley. (should be noted 18z GFS had an OTS solution). The NAO may not be optimum for a major east coast event, but as NYCSuburbs mentioned, the HUGE Canadian block should keep us safe from another dreaded GLC. Then the BRUTAL cold sets in. PNA goes positive, NAO goes neutral / negative, and we go into the freezer. Looks like 10 + days of sub 32 highs... I wonder if people will ask "Is this winter just a repeat of last winter" anymore after Jan 1st?
snywx
0z Euro & 0z GFS are now both on board for giving us a nice 2-4" event christmas morning followed by a bigger event.. Even though both events are still a few days away its good to know that we at least have some sort of an agreement inside 144hrs..

IrishRob17
Welcome Patrick to the Land of the Misfits, LOL. If you read the subtitles it would appear that there is only Metro and Western NY, the rest of the state has gone AWOL apparently. So feel free to post with us, there are a number of us from the Mid-Hudson region specifically that post here in a regular basis, you should fit in nicely here. IrishRob17
Welcome Patrick. Hey did anyone see lightning this morning? I thought I did around 8am. I did not, nor did I hear any thunder but I did feel as though I was in a washing machine at one point as I drove west on 84 to Port Jervis. Guest Patrick
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. Lol...land of misfits. NYCSuburbs
Does anyone know if there were any accumulations (even a coating) along I-87 with the front end snow last night? I had some unexpected light snow/sleet in Albany, I may have seen some on my way to NE NJ last night but it was too dark to see if there were any accumulations. I87 had a small coating of snow on the shoulders from about exit 14 up. I got off exit 17 and the ramp and route 9 was covered over. It was washed away by 9 am though

Guest Patrick
Next week looks interesting for all, to say the least. If am looking at the models correctly, looks like all of us in the higher terrain east of the apps see 12+. Open to correction.

IrishRob17
Yeah, He's up near Glens Falls Thought so. I've heard some funny/interesting stories over the years from a couple of guys I know who worked for NYSDOT in regards to plowing. I'm loving the mood flakes falling here this morning. Just some flurries earlier and some actual light snow right now. Looks like a big week coming up Boys!

gravitylover
I had a good coating this morning, looked nice. Hopefully next week I get to utilize my new Subaru the way it was meant to be used, rompin' through a couple of good snowstorms and passing BMW X Drives and Benz 4 Matics fighting their way up some of the hills on the Taconic

West Point, NY
12z GFS looks warm even for us on the 27th :/ GFS popping the secondary inland doesn't make sense. In a pattern like this with the thermal gradient setting up along the mid atlantic coast, the storm should form just off VA. Toss this run........................ snywx
12z EC looks to give a good amount of snow for the 12/27 storm here in the HV ( specifically the west side of the hudson). Longitude may play more of a factor here than latitude. Time will tell I guess.
