The Hudson Valley Thread

This looks like a snowstorm for the southern and possibly central Hudson Valley. By the time anything gets towards Albany it will weaken after the storm occludes, and I wouldn't be surprised if the modeled band of light-mod snow stops its northward progression not far to my south, with not much more than flakes here. snywx's call of 1-3" from a few days ago sounds reasonable IMO for the central and southern Hudson Valley, but could be raised a bit.

Model guidance as inconsistent as ever... NAM makes yet another short range NW shift, Hudson Valley gets slammed this run before changing over and even Albany enters into the moderate precipitation. FWIW, the 18z RGEM was noticeably more NW as well, but it frequently fluctuates.

Just when I hoped we were finally close to settling down on a single solution...

Nothing here as expected right now. Should probably get flurries later today but I'm not expecting much more. Strangely, NWS Albany only has a 40% chance of light rain/snow but somehow expects accumulations of 1-2" tonight with additional "up to 1/2 inch" accumulations today and tomorrow...

Yeah the bands are having a hard time making it further west. I think the push will happen soon.

Chances are pretty slim.. Line is hitting a wall around the Rockland/Orange border. This is gonna be one of those storms that you go from cloudy to heavy snow within 2 miles.. I expect them to downgrade the advisories for western sections and possibly upgrade to warnings for eastern sections..

Here on the east side, we have a coating on the cars and grass. Comming down moderately now with a temp of 32.7 down 3.0 from the last hour with the heavier snows.

About .25 on the car and grass when I left work in Goshen. About the same in east Middletown now at home its a steady snow but just starting to stick. Lower elevation FTL I'm guessing at home.

Actually I think I spoke too soon.. Was just outside with my 6 yr old.. Measured roughly 1" on car tops & grassy surface. Slush on the roads. Moderate snow w/ a temp of 31

Nice! Looks like you guys on that side of the county are in line for a nice 6" event..

It was really ripping I little while ago, but has since lightened up. The steady snow only started around 3:15.

Good to see you are at least you are getting in on some of the snow.
