The thickness profiles on the 18z NAM continue to suggest the possibility of a light accumulation of snow above 2000ft on Sunday from NEPA through the Catskills, and into the Berks. It actually looks cold enough to get flakes down to about 1000ft at some point late Sunday, but I'd like to see the model soundings to verify (not yet available). After last October's snowstorm, if the primary models depict the possibility of snow - no matter the season or preceding weather - I assume that it can happen.

Closer inspection of the forecast profiles suggests the wb freezing level never gets much below 900mb, so we'd be looking at a higher summits coating at best. Hedging toward climatology, I bet it trends warmer south of ALB and BGM, but it's certainly the first wintry threat to track for the mountains.

Both GFS and ECM agree on a strong although short blast of cold temperatures next weekend with widespread sub-0C 850mb temps, the latest runs show widespread lows in the 20s in the region. Given typical biases I wouldn't be surprised if this is overdone, even if only a little, although this could be the first widespread frost/freeze event this fall.

12Z GFS showed 28* for a low @ MGJ so the NAM has company..

Upper 20s look reasonable for MGJ, I wouldn't be surprised if it may still be a little cool for parts of the region although last night's 0z NAM was probably too cold for more areas with 32 degrees in NE NJ and looks like 26 in NW NJ and Albany.

I'm about 4 miles as the crow flies. I wonder if I get some influence from it as minor it might be.

Its not as minor as you think.. I used to live near the 5 corners in Vails Gate and the temp difference from there and say 5 miles west on 94 is pretty big. You see it often during marginal events. If you have no barrier ( ie. Storm King Mtn) from you and the river you most likely will be influenced by it. I think we have a poster from that area. He might be able to shed some more light on that.

I'm about 2 miles south of 5 corners (off Orrs Mill rd). I never really thought it would have that much of an influence. The poster is Hudsonvalley.....I think he is about a mile or so north of 5 corners. Maybe he can chime in.
