The other thing about the pattern for the west is that the ens mean guidance keep shifting the negative anomaly that is now over Ak west which probably will allow ridging to form near or just off the west coast which will dry out Ca and maybe towards the end of the month. I thought about included that in the original article but it was already longer than most people like reading especially those in the east that could care less about the west.
