Arguing a bad or false premise is a one way ticket to losing credibility. The problem with defending everything you say is you get no respect when you're right. It's crowded in here during the winter and alot of posts shouldn't be made in the first place because the byproduct is exactly what you described above. We are portably the cleanest subforum in that regard. Seriously. Don't become like trixie where 95% of your posts are whining about the forum and the people in it. It is not a good look. I read a lot of threads all over the board. There are plenty of weenies elsewhere, but they are handled swiftly and promptly, that doesn't happen here. Here we have threads given to weenies to spew their crap, and/or they are coddled day in and day out to continue to spew their crap. So if the weenies are allowed to post freely here, why should I keep my mouth shut about them? I was asked yesterday to take my posts to the banter thread and I did. Yet, the weenies were still allowed to clutter up the discussion thread yesterday with their crap. Seems a bit off to me. Lolz to you and the Trixie meme, it is played out. Also, you do a lot of complaining about posts yourself, perhaps you should go back and reread some of the things youve said in past events before you start pointing fingers. Most of the time I try and add substance but I'm guilty as charged with making "banterish" posts and replying to "banterish" posts. This kinda opens the flood gate at times. Then the regulars who add substance call out those who don't when it starts getting cluttered. It is a double standard and I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. I think if we want clean analysis threads then there has to be zero tolerance for anything else. That's prob not gonna happen though. No biggie really. I kinda like some of the banter in the analysis threads. It's really time conversation when things are looking good. Keeping it totally dry isn't as fun. Just mho. If some of you had ignored the thread it would have gotten like 4 responses and disappeared. It's not logical that we have less weenies than other subforums but the weenies here are not dealt with. There are going to be people here with varying levels of knowledge. I have never seen this bush with blooms this early. Given how the winter has gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see a widespread, severe arctic outbreak, with our coldest temperatures of the season sometime later in March. I was called out for being a big meanie, Trixie 2 and drama queen for calling out weenies with their stupidity. I listed my reasons for doing so. But, if you feel you and the other mods are doing a fine job at keeping our weenies in check, then by all means... please, carry on. Agreed... however, that's at the minimum focus distance for the lens I was shooting with. I do plan on purchasing a macro lens at some point before Spring gets here is earnest. Once we get into Tulip season, that's when I really get into photographing flowers. I just had to photograph this one, given how unusual it is. And this bush is on the northwest side of the house that spends most of the day in the shade. I can't imagine how far along it would be if it were growing on the south side of the house. The only time I get irritated (and only a little bit at that) is when I'm trying to catch up in an analysis thread when it's busy. That does get annoying. I remember when I started posted more than once in a while and some of my posts would be deleted on contact. I figured it out pretty quickly and knocked it off. Do you guys still do that on a regular basis? Just clean stuff up on contact? Mods and admins never told me why my stuff was deleted so I kinda had to figure it out on my own. Probably not worth the time and energy but maybe it would help if you guys just deleted stuff and sent explanations to some of the more prolific bad posters. You may do this already. I wonder how bad it would get if there's a big storm at some point. A lot of that however is something I've noticed over the years - bad posters get banned from one forum and end up getting banned here. Then probably go onto another forum. I think the filter's a pretty good option. The other great idea is this - the banter thread. One thing - most of the time when an individual poster gets a big negative reaction, those who react to them eventually are proven correct. Bad posters are pretty good at making big mistakes at some point, and part of that is they feel like they are enabled to post crap. Then it gets worse and eventually they have to be five posted or banned or whatever. That's why I cringe a bit if a bad poster gets defended. In storm mode, I think they still do. When I was on staff at Eastern, you had to do that. There just wasn't any time. The bad posts kept coming and coming. Ever see Starship Troopers? You know the scene in the fort where the alien spiders kept on attacking. Yeah, kind of like that. I think you've become a good poster. You're a good example. You thought about it and made a change.
