Actually, I could see the grass getting white in Baltimore but 1-3 inches is a stretch with the pecip falling mostly in the afternoon except for out west. I actually think the nam forecast is kind of believable since it mimics the euro. It should have the better temp forecast of the two models. That said, I'm ready to run. I waited a little too long as now I don't get the sun to warm me so I'll run indoors.

Being north of the city, I'll be more than happy to see an inch.

Even so, our weenies with or without BB are still annoying

All of us non-mets are weenies though right? I would consider myself a weenie by the definition of not having any formal meteorological education but avidly following a weather board hoping that it will snow. Kinda of a stupid hobby when you really think about it. lol

Is there some kind of weenie classification chart that defines acceptable and non-acceptable weenie types? Clearly there are the obivious over the top weenies but there are many inbetween weenies that slowly work their way up to being an over the top weenie. I want to make sure I done end up in the over the top class of weenies. Someone should write a weenie guidebook and pin it every winter for reference.

Biggest difference between you and some others is that you can recognize patterns and know what models don't always show the truth. You are a good one to have. I OTOH add nothing

It's subjective, but years ago wxtrix distinguished between weenies and WEENIES.

You're definitely a great poster to have here, better than me for sure, but I think the best way to distinguish an annoying weenie is when he's being unreasonable in some way. It could be relying on crappy models that give them the most snow, making wishcasts, thinking a 300+ hr fantasy storm will verify, expecting way more snow than climo would allow and crying when it doesn't happen, or disrupting a discussion with incessant whining (which would belong in the banter thread).

Aw c'mon, this subforum needs an H20. You're like the HWIC around here. Gotta keep the over the top weenies in line and that's more than a full time job. lol

I probably only know enough to be dangerous at times but when I'm unsure I'm pretty good at adding the disclaimer "please correct me if I don't know what the he!! I'm talking about". Whenever you see me put that in my analysis posts it means there's a good chance I'm talking out of my rear.

I think I'm gonna hit the conference this year to meet some folks in person and I'm always looking for a good reason to drink some extra beers in the summer.

Ah, weenie vs WEENIE! This is good.

Yea, I keep a total lid on the crappy model and fantasy land posting.......but the WEENIE in me believes it all hook line and sinker. Then reality sets in....

I took my lumps on eastern. I made some REALLY bad posts there with model analysis. The best part of it was getting called out on it. It helped me stfu and learn a few things first before posting analysis again. I didn't even know what the GFS was until 2006. I used to read HPC disco all the time going all the way back to the early 90's though. There was no sense looking at models back then anyway because I woudn't have known what the heck I was looking at. I owe quite a bit to this community for the knowledge it has given and the desire to learn too. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me and I'm pretty thankful I found eastern. It's been a fun 7 winters since. Well, some more fun than others....

Bob you are NOT a bad weenie, not at all. You add informative posts to the discussions. As Ian said, we all can and have been a weenie at one point or another during our time on this forum, however it's the bad weenies that are noticeable and annoying.

Hopefully, I wasn't too brutal on eastern. You're a good weenie as are most, heck you're good enuf that I stole some of your states. Your a neophyte Don S which is a very high complement though I'm not sure you'll ever achieve his level of being a non-weenie weenie.

Nah, it wasn't you at all on eastern. I got quickly corrected by tracker, vortmax, and phineas iirc. It's been a while so I'm not totally sure. It was well deserved though. I really had no business posting analysis of model runs back then. I took the "read more post less" repsonse to heart and did just that.

Really appreciate the compliment. Don S is about 10 stories above me. IMO- he's probably the best non-weenie weenie on he board. He's helped me a couple times too. I can really relate to his analysis style so he's inspired me to look at the #'s so to speak.

Your posts have alot to do with me actually knowing something worthwhile every now and then. I'm sure many others here feel the same way about that themselves. Every subforum needs a Wes.

The weenie cleanup crew is easily as annoying as the weenies. I am pretty sure there are now more posts complaining about the supposed deluge of weenies than there are actual weenie posts.

Agreed. Glad to have you as one of them

Can we please five-post MillzPirate?

There are folks who deserve to be weenie-tagged after a pattern of bad posts. There are other folks who are attacked by mapgirl and trixie the minute they show up. I grow weary of some here acting like our forum is awash in terrible posts and constantly needs to be scrubbed. This is the same crew who loved to create drama in OT so I suppose they are just not happy unless everyone is spun-up over some invented board issue.

I love irony.

I just don't understand why you need drama so often. Do you read the other subforums? They have far more weenies there. We are probably the cleanest subforum in that regard. Seriously. Don't become like trixie where 95% of your posts are whining about the forum and the people in it. It is not a good look.

That meme is old.

Since we're safely tucked away in the banter thread, here are my observations from lurking around these parts for the last 3 or 4 years. I'll call these the 15 steps of AmWX Weenieism:

Step 1 – Create account, Log in

Step 2 – Post a stupid, unsupportable analysis or message

Step 3 – Get hammered for it while being told to ‘read more, post less’

Step 4 – Come back and say the original message didn’t really say what it says, or doesn’t say what it appears to everyone else but you it says

Step 5 – Get hammered for it

Step 6 – Come back and try to defend to original premise, the one you disowned in Step 4

Step 7 – Get hammered for it

Step 8 – Come back and say you are misunderstood, that you did not say what you said, or mean what you meant… but if you had, you would’ve been right, anyway. Give “evidence” to support this.

Step 9 – Get hammered for it

Step 10 – Come back and say, ‘time will tell’, ‘you’ll see by xyz date’ or ‘it’s based on poorly studied, cutting edge or emerging research’. Give “evidence” to support this.

Step 11 – Get hammered for it

Step 12 – Take the high road, and say ‘I am done with this’, ‘I’m outta here’, or ‘goodbye folks’ in a lofty way

Step 13 – Get hammered for it

Step 14 – Come back in (presumably on a lower road) and say, ‘Yes I was done with this, but…’ and proceed to rehash arguments made in Steps 4, 6, 8 and 10

Step 15 – Get hammered for it

At this point, they can quit in indignant exasperation, or put in a go-loop and start the thing all over again. Either way, congratulations! they are now an AmWX Weenie!

Looks like that Millz guy was on Step 12.
