PSUBlizzicane2007
Let's keep the boards clean. Kids read this place. Lord, what do you do in the shower that's so dirty? For most people, it *is* a clean place, ya know.

snowfan
It was a joke. Man, we really need a big storm to have a weenie snowball fight on the mall. MN Transplant
Nevermind. According to the Park website Mar 15 has been the earliest http://www.nps.gov/cherry/cherry-blossom-bloom.htm In '98 we got to "green buds" stage by Feb 13th.

Kmlwx
goodbye folks... i dont think you see what this is... you cant even talk on a banter thread... have fun when there are 5 of you left Well obviously this forum was fine before you and even during your stay. So I'm sure we will survive if you decide to leave. Yes. All 5 of us You just need to know when to read more and post less...not a difficult concept. You'll learn far more by reading than you will by posting. We all know where to find the models.

WVclimo
A lot has been made of flowers sprouting, and buds on trees. That isn't all that uncommon in winter here when we get mild stretches. But the thing that has amazed me this year is that it hasn't even been cold enough to stop insects. I actually had a fly and another insect in the cocorahs rain gauge when I emptied it yesterday morning. The lack of snow has been one thing, since we often see winters like that, but the lack of cold in this area has been remarkable.

Ian
I wish more people would listen to Wes compared to other forums we have a small number of true weenies.. but it's pretty clear especially the last few weeks how much people want it to snow and are willing to toss facts aside to figure out how it can snow. Actually, I could see the grass getting white in Baltimore but 1-3 inches is a stretch with the pecip falling mostly in the afternoon except for out west. I actually think the nam forecast is kind of believable since it mimics the euro. It should have the better temp forecast of the two models. That said, I'm ready to run. I waited a little too long as now I don't get the sun to warm me so I'll run indoors.

Bob Chill
Even so, our weenies with or without BB are still annoying All of us non-mets are weenies though right? I would consider myself a weenie by the definition of not having any formal meteorological education but avidly following a weather board hoping that it will snow. Kinda of a stupid hobby when you really think about it. lol Is there some kind of weenie classification chart that defines acceptable and non-acceptable weenie types? Clearly there are the obivious over the top weenies but there are many inbetween weenies that slowly work their way up to being an over the top weenie. I want to make sure I done end up in the over the top class of weenies. Someone should write a weenie guidebook and pin it every winter for reference. H2O
It is and always has been a huge difference between a met like Wes, and other knowledgeable people, saying that conditions could permit some to see snow on Wed. and those who look at a model and say it will just because they "feel" it. Biggest difference between you and some others is that you can recognize patterns and know what models don't always show the truth. You are a good one to have. I OTOH add nothing

It's subjective, but years ago wxtrix distinguished between weenies and WEENIES. You're definitely a great poster to have here, better than me for sure, but I think the best way to distinguish an annoying weenie is when he's being unreasonable in some way. It could be relying on crappy models that give them the most snow, making wishcasts, thinking a 300+ hr fantasy storm will verify, expecting way more snow than climo would allow and crying when it doesn't happen, or disrupting a discussion with incessant whining (which would belong in the banter thread). Gotta keep the over the top weenies in line and that's more than a full time job. lol I probably only know enough to be dangerous at times but when I'm unsure I'm pretty good at adding the disclaimer "please correct me if I don't know what the he!! I'm talking about". Whenever you see me put that in my analysis posts it means there's a good chance I'm talking out of my rear. I think I'm gonna hit the conference this year to meet some folks in person and I'm always looking for a good reason to drink some extra beers in the summer. Ah, weenie vs WEENIE! This is good. Yea, I keep a total lid on the crappy model and fantasy land posting.......but the WEENIE in me believes it all hook line and sinker. Then reality sets in.... I took my lumps on eastern. I made some REALLY bad posts there with model analysis. The best part of it was getting called out on it. It helped me stfu and learn a few things first before posting analysis again. I didn't even know what the GFS was until 2006. I used to read HPC disco all the time going all the way back to the early 90's though. There was no sense looking at models back then anyway because I woudn't have known what the heck I was looking at. I owe quite a bit to this community for the knowledge it has given and the desire to learn too. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me and I'm pretty thankful I found eastern. It's been a fun 7 winters since. Well, some more fun than others....
