Grothar
Feb 2007. It was just before Valentines Day. Otherwise, I completely agree with your post. Nothing better than shoveling sleet. I think more freezing rain only for the fact that the temps are not below 20 degrees for a prolong period of time like Valentines Day 2007 to produce significant sleet accumalations
Harbourton
12Z NAM is rain for the entire area.
famartin
Feb 2007. It was just before Valentines Day. Otherwise, I completely agree with your post. Depends on where you were. In the LV, yeah Feb 07 was probably the big sleet storm, but for the next tier southeast, it was March 07.
fsu_wxgirl
I keep watching for the secondary low to develop in just the right spot and the high pressure in the northeast to weaken and allow the secondary low to ride up the coast. Looks like another case where everything has to time just right...
famartin
Unless its a bombogenesis event, South Jersey/Delaware Bay is not a good place for the secondary to develop
Harbourton
Maybe just enough blocking near the Straits on the 12Z GFS.
LVblizzard
12z GFS is all frozen for most of SE PA except immediate Philly burbs. All snow north of the LV.
easternsnowman
It looks good for areas to the west of the city with some elevation.

In the LV, yeah Feb 07 was probably the big sleet storm, but for the next tier southeast, it was March 07. you would be correct. I completely forgot about the "mini" sleetfest in March 07 since we had 5-7" of it in Feb. But now that you mention it, I do recall saying, "not again". Give me snow or rain all day long next to ZR and sleet.
famartin
It looks good for areas to the west of the city with some elevation. If you like ice... at 12Z Saturday the 850 mb 0C line on the GFS is already parallel to and along or just north of the PA Turnpike.
mattinpa
12z GFS has me concerned about ice here in the suburbs. It would be a change from rain, but I can never really like ice.

Storm Clouds
So it is looking more like ice out here too than snow?
Quakertown needs snow
what does the arrival time look like at this point for ABE and north? thinking of heading up to blue early saturday.
tombo82685
So it is looking more like ice out here too than snow? yea, this is a latitude storm, in terms if you want snow. Further north the colder denser the air

LVblizzard
Euro looks to flip with GFS, now warmer than previous runs... Not much warmer...still all snow in the Poconos and the all-frozen line barely gets past I-78.
famartin
Euro looks to flip with GFS, now warmer than previous runs... Yeah, its mainly rain at PHL now. Per the Wunderground clown maps... EC has: MPO - 3.2 ABE - 2.6 RDG - 1.3 TTN - 0.9 PHL - 0.1 ILG - 0.1 ACY - 0.0 GED - 0.

The high is in a decent spot throughout the event.. the mid level warmth i dont deny one bit it will warm up quickly.

The usual bias, of course, is to warm the surface too fast and mid levels too slowly.
