Chicago Storm
I know it's being discusse dint he local thread, but it's worthy of it's own thread now... First watch of the season for the QLCS event... DISCUSSION...SCTD TSTMS HAVE INCREASED IN THE PAST HOUR ALONG AND AHEAD OF SW-NE COLD FRONT THROUGH CNTRL MO. STORMS MAY SOMEWHAT INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND POSSIBLY STRENGTH THROUGH EARLY TUE AS REGION IS GLANCED BY NEXT WEAK IMPULSE SHEARING ENEWD AHEAD OF MAIN UPR TROUGH MOVING E FROM CNTRL KS. NEAR-SFC SSWLY FLOW WILL MAINTAIN LOW LVL WAA ACROSS REGION...WITH SFC TEMPS AROUND 60 F AND SFC DEW POINTS IN THE MID/UPR 50S. THIS SETUP MAY YIELD A FEW SHORT LINES/BROKEN SEGMENTS OF STORMS CAPABLE OF LOCALLY DMGG WIND AND PERHAPS ONE OR TWO QLCS TORNADOES GIVEN COOL MID LVL TEMPS/STRENGTH OF CLOUD LAYER FLOW. wxmeddler
clearly you don't know about SGF well don't you.... this is CLASSIC Springfield behavior... anything with the slightest radar sig gets tornado warned... I heard multiple stories after Joplin, how they warned on just about anything etc. etc. etc. Never really took much into it since I don't deal with that part of the country. I see what everyone's on about though now. FWIW, STL just issued a tor warning for the lead cell for Gasconade and Gosage co's.

wxmeddler
Vienna may have just taken a hit. STL is 6,000 ft AGL and SGF is 10,000 ft AGL over Vienna and with the gate to gate at 60 kts is probally not likely (although no-one can say for certian). However, if it was daylight the swichboards at 911 call center would smokein'.
