Bigol bust by Upton....back edge of the precip will move through in the next 2-3 hrs before any changeover--2nd batch out in western PA

So far the forecast is playing out very well north of NYC. Snow vs. sleet vs. rain is a very difficult call in a light precipitation, showery event with marginal surface temps, and slightly above freezing mid-level temps. Some flakes and/or light frozen accumulation is hardly a bigol bust. But I suppose since this is the first accumulating snowfall of the WINTER, it seems like a big deal.

Question in a winterstorm scenario would snow accumulate faster if you had a 1/2 inch coating of sleet to act as sort of a coating of ice to cool the ground faster ex. You had a storm start as sleet but change to snow

Depends on alot of things-temps, rate of snowfall day vs night etc
