Tropopause_Fold
The SE MA area is going to be hit hard by this one. Perfect track. some of the weenie snow algorithms have a nice 6-8" band from RI across SE MA and out onto the Cape
mattb65
Yup--I think even up to me and into SVT will do reasonably well. Unfortuantely, I'm currently at 30K en route to ATL. I'll be salivating at the 12z runs on my connection to CR. 18.4/11 back at the Pit. Don't lie if you were home you'd be fretting over QPF like a mad man right now. Tropopause_Fold
As last night showed there will be changes right up to kickoff....I'm excited about the prospects of a nice snow event, but won't bite totally until tonight or post Euro. What time is this supposed to start? well it's going to snow - i don't think you have to worry about that. if it comes north some - it would mix with some sleet (maybe some rain out by CHH) later in the game but would still be a solid thump....if it trends weaker/south we'd still get a solid advisory event i think. it would have to be a massive model failure by every piece of guidance for this to not materialize. even the euro which was fairly light on QPF would be 3 to 5" regionwide. You know how it went here last winter which is why I'm in fallout mode...if I got 3-4" I'd be thrilled. If the Euro is up to .4 or .5 later and the afternoon and evening models are the same I'm going to be bummed if we don't get 4-8" 1 or 2 good weekends of sledding makes the winter. Baroclinic Zone
some of the weenie snow algorithms have a nice 6-8" band from RI across SE MA and out onto the Cape I would not be shocked to see those amount pop up somewhere. 4-6" looks safe right now to me for a large chuck of the area. Soundings out on CC still cold enough to support snow? It's not an overly dynamic/strong system so in inflow from the ocean won't be great but just enough to enhance some of the bands. mattb65
Nam looked fantastic, solid snowstorm here, hard to believe it yet...... You've been so traumatized this winter... I think we're all pulling for you even if it means I don't get much snow in ski country. You're looking great for this one, and hope you double or triple your current season total. Logan11
I thought we'd have a northward trend, but the pattern may have changed..... Also the s/w looks so weak and strung out. Anybody think this will nudge north any by tomorrow morning? Disappointed SNH isn't getting in on the action. I'm snow starved !!

You're looking great for this one, and hope you double or triple your current season total. Thanks, I appreciate that, its been a tough go for an old weenie like me, but I am at peace with this winter.......spent hours last night looking back at pics from last winter, almost 3 ft snowpack for multiple weeks, and 55+ days of snow on the ground and 70 inches total, very fortunate indeed and spoiled this last decade. I will be up to see the first flake fall and out in it all day with my kids loving every second of it.
Baroclinic Zone
Everyone must have a hangover from last night. Quiet in here for what will be one of the largest storm threats of the year. Myself, I'm working on about 4 hours sleep.
CarverWX
I would love to see 6+ on the graound come Saturday night. I think the south shore has a good shot at doing this.
cycloneslurry
very frustating winter continues here in Lexington Ma as it seems we are always either to far north or south of the best snow. October we had 3 inches while s nh had a foot. Last night and tomorrow seem to give the same places a half foot and I am expecting another inch or two here. Hard to watch systems miss you in all directions. Good year last year though and we still have feb to go so we will see.

Tropopause_Fold
this is a quick hitter. GFS would suggest this is winding down over CT by midday/early afternoon
Damage In Tolland
This reminds me of that Dec 9 2008 storm that jackpotted TAN, Attleboro on into N Ct where the sleet line kissed HFD but no farther north

CoastalWx
Nice sounding in the snowgrowth zone with the temp does not decrease quickly. That indicates good WAA and a nice thck layer in the DGZ.

Tropopause_Fold
It's not going to only snow for 5 hours no not five...6 to 8 maybe? it's moving along really quickly...should start before dawn there and looks to be done by 1 or 2..maybe flurries lingering til 3? there's a lot of left over LL moisture / flurries / OES stuff over eastern areas but not sure how far west that extends into the evening.
