Chicago WX
+3.5 for LAF through yesterday with temps for January. Though, 9 of the first 21 days have been below normal...but the torches have been torchier than the cool shots cool. No matter what happens the rest of the way this month...it's a win win for me with this past 11 days that have featured three snowfalls of 3" or above (10.9" total), a heavy thunderstorm with hail, and whatever transpires tonight. Chicago WX
LAF warming up quite quickly...not unexpected, nor surprising. Estimated time of complete demise of the snow pack here...7:00PM.
cyclone77
Already up to 28 here after bottoming out at 14. Under a freezing rain advisory, but not expecting much QPF from this system, especially below freezing.
daddylonglegs
Drizzling here. Not really that slick from what I can tell. With the amount of salt that put on these roads, I doubt much ice can form.
Geos
Temperature has moved up some, still in the mid 20s at 11am. ORD reporting -SN right now. Expecting a lot of fog later on today, especially near the lake.

Chicago WX
I think you're too quick. Probably. Midnight?
cyclone77
A little bit of frizzle out there at the moment. Temps continue to slowly rise though. Really not expecting all that much snow melt here. We still have about 5" on the ground. With the heaviest rains just missing us, and temps only rising into the upper 30s for a time, we should only lose a few inches.
Hoosier
Probably. Midnight? That might be more realistic. Really a nowcast type of thing. How are we judging - first sign of grass or complete vanishing of everything except large piles?

turtlehurricane
Apparently there's been a mixture of fog, freezing drizzle, and snow all morning. Classic WAA over a snow pack scenario. MSN up to 27 °F, much colder than the ~40 °F temperatures at 850 hPa.

Chicago WX
LAF running two degrees ahead of me at 6PM...38 to 36. 52/50 at EVV.
beavis1729
?? I think Nic is referring to the continuation of this frustrating pattern for hardcore winter lovers. In particular, it would be nice to hold a snowpack for more than 2 days.
beavis1729
Given the cold surfaces, we're still getting some glazing due to the light drizzle. Currently 36/35...should hit 40 overnight before the front comes through.
