wisconsinwx
nam would suck for us southners. Hard to think of myself as a southerner, but with that map...it's still nice to see the northern half of Wisconsin do well for the winter recreation, as you've made a point of mentioning. Stebo
lol, the NAM is 0 for the winter. Why give it any credence at all...unless you're a masochist. Yeah the NAM has had a tendency all winter to start out North or West and then transitition South or East. I go with the NAM being incorrect once again. SpartyOn
Ways to go here but this looks mighty good. The upper level dynamics and thermal values look decent for a event. More important that we see an improvement in a fuel source(moisture) the euro kinda throttled it in a awkward way. Feeling confident about the pattern going forward also. Has a decent look compared to the garbage the numericals we're showing for a fast week. Winter might "creep" in way.

Indystorm
This type of set-up is definitely favorable for a freezing rain scenario for someone with the shallow arctic air mass slow to retreat. Yes, and we are getting into that time of year when climatology favors ice storms in our area. I'm amazed at the EF-1 tornado in the Louisville area. Makes me think that we are definitely getting into an active pattern.
Thundersnow12
18z GFS coming north. Best band from southwest MN-southern WI-southwest MI. Northern IL still does pretty decent.

AppsRunner
Yeah but it is a good trend. Just an FYI, one run of the GFS is far from a trend.
Nic
Just an FYI, one run of the GFS is far from a trend. Ok I mean a possible step in the right direction, It is just one run and means nothing.
cyclone77
Other than the 00z run last night, the Euro has been pretty consistent with laying the best snows well north of us. Not expecting much more than an inch or so at this point. Still early but trends aren't too great here.
michsnowfreak
This certainly has the potential to become the best widespread snow event of the season for SE MI. While most locations have picked up a 2-3.5 inch snowfall at some point this season, this looks to be one where the entire area could cash in with 3"+, nice powder at that. Still 3 days away, but nice trends so far.
Chicago WX
0z NAM continues the north theme. Probably overdone with the QPF, but eye candy for MKE. Getting closer to my cold rain for here.
Hoosier
0z NAM continues the north theme. Probably overdone with the QPF, but eye candy for MKE. Getting closer to my cold rain for here. It actually brought the snow band farther south than 18z but I guess that's not shocking.
Chicago WX
It actually brought the snow band farther south than 18z but I guess that's not shocking. Yeah, you're probably right. Of course we're talking NAM here. If the doctor doesn't budge, it don't mean a thing.
wisconsinwx
It actually brought the snow band farther south than 18z but I guess that's not shocking. Yeah, it's slightly north of the 12z/18z GFS and the 12z Euro, but not by much.
