Hoosier
Cheap midnight high for LAF on Jan 18, 1994. http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KLAF/1994/1/18/DailyHistory.html -14 at noon...pretty good. I'd have to do some checking but I think the only day that was colder at noon was 1/20/85 when it was -18.

That was another "cheap" high, as that entire day was in the double digits below until 11:00pm. EDIT: -14 at noon on Dec 24, 1983...to match Jan 1994. EDIT: -14 at noon on Dec 24, 1983...to match Jan 1994. The only day in the past 150 years that might be able to match 1/20/1985 for cold during the day would be 1/1/1864. Records are scarce obviously but people who had lived in the area for a long time said it was the coldest day they had ever seen and Chad has mentioned that the temp at Crawfordsville was -16 at 2 PM that day. Jonger
If this cold outbreak hit at the end of January, we would get much colder in Michigan. The lakes will add +15 to whatever cold comes our way.
WestMichigan
Thermometers in Eastern Ohio bottomed out at -40 or colder since that is where the scale on most stopped. As you might expect, none of it was official. We did get a day and a half off at college for the cold weather.
Jonger
Love it! Chuck was thinner, mentioned Q95 lol. Oh, and he was way warm. Forecast 5F/-16F on Jan 19th it was actually -4F/-20F. Heres part 1 . I miss Mort Crim and Bill Bonds.
